Your role at St John of God Murdoch Hospital This is an exciting opportunity to join our Bridget Clancy Ward as a part-time Clinical Nurse, where you will deliver a high standard of patient care, act as a key clinical resource, and effectively manage resources to achieve outstanding patient outcomes within your specialty areas. We are seeking Clinical or Registered Nurses with a minimum of 2 years’ General Surgical, Colorectal and Upper GI experience, who are passionate about working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and contributing to excellence in patient care. Additional experience in Plastic Surgery will be highly regarded. This role will be offered on a Permanent Part-time basis, working 18 hours per week. The Position Supervise nursing practice and take responsibility for standard of nursing care delivered. Act as a clinical resource, maintain and develop clinical skills relevant to area of practice. Initiate review and coordinate care of patients with complex health problems. Serve as a patient advocate, protecting the rights and safety of patients at all times. Evaluate the quality of nursing practice and participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes. Ensure the correct use and care of all hospital equipment by self and colleagues. Actively contribute to the development of clinical policies and procedures in area of specialty. Ensure documentation meets hospital standards and legal requirements. Deputise for the Nurse Manager as required. Prioritise departmental workloads using resources appropriately and cost effectively. Coordinate the department effectively ensuring continuity of care, and takes action on problems encountered. Participate in the performance management of caregivers in conjunction with the Nurse Manager. Participate in and takes responsibility for the education of other caregivers by conducting formal and informal teaching sessions. Assist in developing, implementing and reviewing specific departmental orientation programs with Nurse Manager, act as a preceptor as required. Organise own work and assist colleagues to complete all care duties by end of shift. Supervise the practice of Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and Patient Care Assistants. Assist the Nurse Manager with the submission of annual capital budget and business plans relevant to the Department. Review products and equipment and provide documentation and education on evaluation. Act as shift coordinator as required and in liaison with the Nurse / After Hours Manager and monitors staffing levels continuously to ensure appropriate numbers of skills staff are available within the agreed productivity targets. Contribute to planning, problem solving and change management within the Nursing Division throughout the hospital as required. Monitor and promote adherence by caregivers to hospital Policies, procedures and standards. You will have demonstrated strong leadership ability, working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment with well-developed skills in communication, conflict resolution, negotiation and problem solving. To succeed you will hold registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse, relevant post registration and experience in Colorectal, Upper GI, General Surgery. Flexibility to work Monday to Sunday on a rotating roster will be required. Above all, patient care will be at the core of everything you do committing to and supporting our Mission and Values. We can offer Salary: $109,599 to $115,682 (pro rata for part-time), plus 12% superannuation A permanent part-time position, working 28 hours per week.
