Job Summary: The Clinical Nurse Manager has 24 hour responsibility for a nursing unit(s) which includes accountability for the quality of patient care, the performance of the nursing staff, the preparation and management of Operational and capital budgets, and the orientation, education, and development of the staff. Collaborates with other nursing and physician leaders and ancillary departments. Acts as role model of professionalism for staff. Provides mentorship for clinical staff leaders. Develops and fosters staff/physician relationships. Responsible for oversight and implementation of quality metrics, including but not exclusive of Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infection (CAUTI), Central Line Associated Bloodstream Infection (CLABSI), and patient satisfaction. Education: Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN Degree required. Preferred: Master's Degree in Nursing. Experience: Required: 5 or more years of clinical experience and evidence of leadership abilities, at least 3 years experience in an intensive care unit setting Preferred: Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration Required: Current license to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee. BLS completed prior to going to unit/department and to be maintained going forward. ACLS certified required. The Nurse Licensure Compact will not change how to obtain or renew a Tennessee license. However, the Tennessee nursing license will be a single state license for Tennessee Residents or non-compact state residents. Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-Tennessee residents. Preferred: Certification in area of specialty. Department Position Summary: The Clinical Nurse Manager has 24 hour responsibility for the quality of patient care, the performance of nursing staff, development and management of the budget, and the orientation education, and development of the staff. Further, contributes to nursing and the Health System through support of philosophy and objectives and education efforts. The Clinical Nurse Manager must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age specific needs. The Clinical Nurse Manager must be familiar with all treatment modalities of Intensive care unit patients-both medical and surgical, medical floor patients, and Vascular surgery patients. Serves as a resource in area caring for patients with multiple medical diagnoses, vascular diagnoses, post-operative vascular surgery, and critically ill patients and has the ability to interpret outcomes of therapy.
