Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are currently recruiting for a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNM2) in Infection Prevention and Control reporting to the Director of Nursing:

  • 1 Full-time (37.5 hours/week)
  • Permanent

The post holder’s practice is based on the five core concepts of Clinical Nurse Specialist (IPC) role as defined by the National Council for the Professional Development of Nursing and Midwifery NCNM 4th edition (2008) in order to fulfil the role. The concepts are:

  • Clinical Focus
  • Patient/Client Advocate
  • Education and Training
  • Audit and Research
  • Consultant

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides expert specialist advice, proactive and reactive support, and contributes to the surveillance, prevention, and control of infections and outbreaks.
  • Plays a vital role in delivering training, conducting audits, and driving improvement initiatives to enhance service user safety and high-quality care and supports.
  • Infection surveillance, audits, and quality improvement projects, supporting governance functions within the service.
  • Building effective relationships with health and social care staff, allied health professionals, and managers will be key in delivering education and training across the St. Michael’s House services.
  • Providing accurate data and reports to inform high quality and evidence-based service delivery.
