You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level or equivalent performing work experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. AND
Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor’s degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. AND
Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

Responsibilities:

As a Clinical Nurse, at detention facilities staffed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Health Service Corps (IHSC), you will provide medical, dental and mental health care to detainees in ICE Custody. This position is supervised by the Nurse Manager in collaboration with the Health Services Administrator and Clinical Director, with the Regional Nurse Manager as the reviewing official. You will perform the following duties:

  • Provide direct, daily nursing care to ICE detainees, as ordered/needed following the Lippincott Procedure Manual and IHSC directives;
  • Coordinate health care needs of detainees with healthcare team and coordinating referrals to off-site providers as required;
  • Respond to emergency medical calls as assigned and provide emergency treatment of injury or illness;
  • Ensure that medications prescribed are administered as ordered, using the six (6) rights of medication administration; and
  • Maintain medical equipment and quality control of laboratory reagent, maintaining medical supply stock level, and assisting with ordering supplies.
