POSITION SUMMARY

  • The clinical pharmacist will work under the direct supervision of the Center’s CMO & CPO and will assist both in the daily operations of the Little River Medical Center (LRMC) clinical pharmacy program.
  • The clinical pharmacist will adhere to all policies and procedures that are in place currently or subsequently enacted following their starting date of employment that are established by LRMC and will also adhere and follow all laws/policies/procedures that are established by any South Carolina or Federal agency that can regulate the practice of pharmacy.
  • The clinical pharmacist will adhere to billing/coding rules/regulations that govern the practice of clinical pharmacy for services that they render to patients of LRMC.
  • The clinical pharmacist will be assigned to a primary LRMC site per normal LRMC Human Resources (HR) procedures; however, due to programmatic administration the clinical pharmacist may be required to report to any LRMC site where patients are appointed.
  • The clinical pharmacist may be required to staff any LRMC owned and operated pharmacy location when asked to do so.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • A degree of Bachelor of Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy.
  • Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY-1, PGY-2 residency, or both.
  • In lieu of an ASHP accredited PGY-1, PGY-2 residency, or both:
  • Greater than 3 years of work experience as a clinical pharmacist.
  • Being board certified by an accrediting agency that tests for competencies needed to be designated as a specialist in a designated field that encompasses the principles of clinical pharmacy practice.
Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Being knowledgeable to provide pharmaceutical/medical care that is in accordance with the standards adopted by LRMC or set forth by recognized organizations that describe manners to achieve favorable outcomes in the disease state management of patients.
  • Contribute to the development or be willing to participate in clinical process improvement projects initiated by LRMC when necessary.
  • Being able to serve as a resource for drug information for fellow LRMC team members and patients.
  • Being computer literate and having the ability to learn software programs that are essential in performing the duties of being a clinical pharmacist or working within a LRMC Pharmacy location.
  • Work in conjunction with the CMO, CPO, and other LRMC team members in developing/modifying policies and procedures and workflows necessary to maintain a robust clinical pharmacy program for LRMC.
  • Being versed in performing duties within a LRMC Pharmacy location that includes tasks at prescription drop off, production, verification, and pick-up.
  • Supervising staff that reports to work with them that are downstream from their position within the organizational chart.
  • Utilizing strategies to always maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Participating in staff meetings, in-service trainings, and continuing education activities as necessary to be able to maintain or further improve their skills of being a clinical pharmacist and what may be needed to work within a LRMC Pharmacy location if necessary

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES include the following direct reports who may work with a clinical pharmacist at any site or LRMC Pharmacy location owned and operated by the Center:

  • Registered Pharmacy Technicians
  • State Certified Pharmacy Technicians
  • Pharmacy Operations Specialist
  • Pharmacy Services Associates
  • Medication Assistance Program (MAP) Coordinato
