JOB SUMMARY

The Clinical Placement Specialist is responsible for conducting clinical placement operations and processes to including the planning, developing, coordinating, and maintaining of student clinical placements for their program objectives. Working in collaboration with faculty and academic program coordinators, will contact potential and known clinical practice sites to coordinate placement of KSU students. Answers correspondence and assembles highly confidential and sensitive information.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Health, Human Services, or Social Sciences fields or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Two(2) years of related administrative, office or clerical experience

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Administrative experience in a medical facility or clinical program

ABILITIES

Able to serve as a member of the New Student Success Committee and attend any committee meetings regarding clinical site/rotations and new faculty orientation
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
Able to participate in webinars, attend onsite facility update meetings, schedule meetings with facility educator clinical liaison

KNOWLEDGE

Stays current with clinical facilities¿ placement requirements and availability

SKILLS

Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service and phone and e-mail etiquette

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Serves as the liaison between department and clinical healthcare facilities regarding clinical placement of students across various onboarding platforms, updates program leadership regarding any changes in the clinical facilities and evaluates appropriateness of clinical sites prior to placement
  2. Assesses placement affiliates availability and adjust requests for placements as needed
  3. Verifies student information in system for progression, class conflict, or grades for specialist assignments
  4. Communicates with students to notify of placement, to address any issues, and services as primary POC for placements
  5. Creates and maintains current record for each student and verifies physical progression in each clinical course. Meets with program leadership to reconcile
  6. Meets with faculty to discuss dates, deadlines, and specialist request for placement
  7. Collects, verifies, approves, maintains and problem solves student and faculty health and clinical documents
  8. Manages all associated email accounts ensuring timely response/action
  9. Reports clinical data for various affiliates or director and document and disseminate information to clinical faculty and course coordinators
  10. Attends all mandatory meetings with affiliates each year
  11. Serves as a member of the education and practice council for Wellstar
  12. Participate in all class clinicals orientations to present clinical details
