JOB DESCRIPTION:

This employment opportunity will be to serve as the Clinical Psychologist. Under direction, performs psychological assessments, group, individual, or family therapy evaluations, and treatment of patients with problems of personality, emotional adjustment, or mental illness; administers and interprets psychological tests used for diagnosing mental and personality disorders, prepares reports and recommendations, and performs psychotherapeutic tasks; provides forensic clinical assessments and treatment of adolescents; does related work as required. The position interfaces frequently with the Family Court.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

· Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Doctoral Degree in Psychology with one (1) year supervised clinical internship

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Clinical license preferred, but not mandatory. Supervision towards licensure available
  • Forensic experience preferred
  • Experience working with adolescents
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams, Word, Outlook and Excel programs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and computerized information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.

Responsibilities
  • Appear in Court upon request to provide mental health perspective on assessed youth.
  • Organizes assigned established work program in the field of psychological testing and/or psychotherapy and develops appropriate work methods.
  • Either alone or as a member of a patient care team, conducts Court-ordered psychological evaluations for youth pre and post adjudicated for a variety of offenses. These assessments are conducted in both an outpatient setting and in the Bergen County Juvenile Detention Center.
  • Conduct psycho-educational and or clinical individual and group sessions.
  • Conduct clinical assessments of youth referred by the Court or as part of the law enforcement process.
  • Treats psychological disorders to effect improved adjustments utilizing various accepted psychotherapeutic techniques, and becomes familiar with the family, social, and economic forces that affect clients and patients.
  • Selects the approach to use in individual therapy, such as directive, nondirective, and supportive therapy, and plans frequency, intensity, and duration of therapy.
  • Collects and analyzes data and prepares reports.
  • Participates in case management meetings and staff meetings.
  • Carry a caseload of individual patients and provide group therapy.
  • Maintains essential records and files.
