Identify and analyze business needs for clinical research departments and institutional leadership, conducting detailed requirements gathering and defining scope and job objectives with an emphasis on industry and other collaborative research initiatives. Engage with external partners—including pharmaceutical/biotechnology companies, other academic organizations, contract research organizations (CROs), and regulatory bodies—to align institutional capabilities with industry expectations and evolving clinical trial requirements. Make strategic recommendations for solutions or improvements to business processes that enhance industry engagement, contract execution, study startup timelines, and overall trial feasibility, leveraging new technologies or optimized use of existing platforms (e.g., CTMS, ISF, budgeting tools, eConsent). Translate complex business and industry engagement requirements into clear application specifications, ensuring interoperability, regulatory compliance (e.g., ICH GCP, 21 CFR Part 11), and support for scalable clinical research operations across academic and industry partnerships.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum Experience: 8+ years of progressive experience in a client-facing environment interacting with senior and executive leadership at the department and organization level.
  • Experience in IT in pharma, healthcare, biotech and/or research organization(s) strongly preferred.
  • Significant experience working with diverse, complex business ecosystems.
  • Demonstrated experience working with integrated, complex business processes and operations.
  • Experience building partnerships and interacting with senior leadership to impact strategic goals and objectives.
  • Experience reviewing work of peers to ensure high-quality and effective processes.
  • Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with leaders across functions.
  • Lead the development of strategies for departments within scope in partnership with business and institutional leadership.
  • Act as the single point of contact for IT for both new demands as well as escalations for operational issues.
  • Drive education of business teams and promotion of enterprise strategy, platforms, and services.
  • Act as the business strategy expert, representing business needs to the institutional leadership teams and providing inputs to strategic decisions around business/systems.
  • Educate the IT organization on how the business operates, and their vision both short- and long- term.
  • Lead, prioritize, develop, and optimize the overall approach for IT business partnership.
  • Develop presentation materials, documents, etc. in support of institutional strategy, services, capabilities as well as business strategy and needs.
