REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • BSc in Social Work
  • Master’s degree in Social Work
  • Ability to obtain Social Worker license in Abu Dhabi, as per the Department of Health, Abu Dhabi requirements. For details please refer to their PQR: https://www.doh.gov.ae/en/pqr

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ years of post-master’s clinical experience in an ambulatory care setting required. Demonstrated proficiency with electronic medical records
  • Ability to work with a diverse, international population
  • Strong work ethic and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and confident team player with attention to detail
  • Knowledge of cultural issues specific to the United Arab Emirates and the Middle East strongly preferred
  • Ability to understand the wider perspective of the institution and how the Health and Wellness Center supports and fits into the broader educational mission

Responsibilities
  • Provides outstanding clinical services, case management and referrals, collaborates with other clinical providers and consults with the Director of Mental Health on mental health issues. Maintains case records, notes, and closing summaries on all clients treated
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary research and administrative projects as assigned by medical director. Such projects may include clinical research on a variety of topics including psychosocial aspects of eating disorders, prevalence of mood disorders in a college age population, among other potential topics. As the Counseling Center grows, the Social Worker may be asked to supervise student Social Workers, and to monitor their case records and oversee therapy session
  • Conducts clinical assessment interviews to evaluate the seriousness of problems and concerns including, but not limited to, alcohol and other drug use and assessment of eating disorders. The Social Worker recommends treatment plans and provides students with individual psychotherapy or group therapy as appropriate. The Social Worker, under the direct supervision of the Director of Mental Health, makes recommendations for hospitalization and leaves of absence and, at the request of the Dean of Students, participates in the evaluation of students’ readiness to return from leaves of absence
  • Serves in an on-call capacity to respond to student and campus emergencies, and serves as a key resource and source of advice for colleagues involved in responding to psychological emergencies and other urgent situations
