Job Details Job Location: First OC Dermatology (FOCD) - Dr. Nguyen Fountain Valley - Fountain Valley, CA 92708 Position Type: Full Time Education Level: Not Specified Salary Range: $69,000.00 - $72,000.00 Salary Travel Percentage: Up to 25% Job Shift: Day Job Category: Health Care This position is responsible for the planning and coordinating of the daily activities of the medical practice with regard to the medical support staff. Responsibilities include: ensuring proper coverage in all clinical areas; staff development; and compliance oversight with local, state and federal regulations such OSHA and HIPAA. Excellent communication skills in a multicultural and multigenerational workforce. Additional duties include efficient use of resources, budgeting, quality assurance and process improvement. RESPONSIBILITIES: Administrative: Directs, manages and supervises clinical services in accordance with governmental, regulatory, and practice policy and procedures. Ensures the needs of each clinical department are met by maintaining appropriate staffing levels. Interviews, recommends hiring of, orientation, trains, assigns work to, and, when necessary, disciplines and recommends separation. Maintains a communicative and collaborative relationship with the physicians, mid-level providers, practice managers and corporate administration to deliver guidance to clinical staff, maintain best practices and consistently deliver a high-quality product to patients and providers. Adherence to HIPAA-HITECH, keeping strict confidentiality under these regulations. Ordering medical supplies, cosmetic supplies, store products and specimen/biopsy supplies with an emphasis on cost control. Schedules preventative maintenance and repair of clinical office equipment (i.e. lasers, autoclaves, exam chairs). Fosters a positive working relationship with referring providers, vendors and laboratories. Operational: Interacts with patients as necessary to support the clinical staff including the following: Promptly answers and responds to incoming phone calls/electronic portals; Answers questions and requests regarding follow-up care, prescriptions, laboratory results, etc.; Documents all questions, requests, and answers in EMR; Contacts patients to explain diagnosis of skin cancer, other abnormalities, and assist in the scheduling of treatment/surgery; Informs provider of lab work / pathology results and abnormalities; Screens calls for physician(s) as appropriate; Reviews blood/lab (biopsy) reports with other medical assistants and staff as appropriate; Photographs the patient's conditions as requested by physician(s); and Confirms reporting compliance with state and federal registries. Enforces confidentiality of all patient information by all clinical employees. Ensures the clinical procedure manual is complete and up to date. Inventory control: Maintain medical and drug supplies and cosmetic consumables meet patient volume and demand; Periodically monitor inventory for expiration dates: discard expired drugs, products and supplies; and Secure necessary equipment. Identify problems that may adversely affect patient experience. Be able to apply corrective action or to notify Practice Administrator of these problems. Document these activities. Records accurate and complete patient information on laboratory requisition forms, specimen and blood containers, and documents in EMR/Log book. Ensure specimens are properly handled, labeled correctly and ready for courier. Timely processes pathology reports, (CLIA-including checking computer for report entry/results) Oversees the sterilization process of instrumentation including decontamination, sterilization and package integrity. Assures equipment is maintained functional at all times. Confirms exam/procedure rooms are clean, orderly and stocked according to established PAR levels OTHER FUNCTIONS: Performs and documents periodic staff meetings and educational in-service including but not limited to OSHA, CPR and HIPAA. Ongoing responsibility to learn and understand all pertinent information affecting job role and the advancement of patient care. Monitors drug samples and sales people and ensures drug reps do not stock unassisted. Maintains a clean and safe work area. Remains in compliance with OSHA-Bloodborne Pathogen Standard guidelines including universal precautions, personal protective equipment, and environmental standards, etc. Remains in compliance with OSHA/Hazardous Communication Standard guidelines and Clinic Laboratory Improvement Act Standards. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: 5+ years’ experience in as a medical assistant or greater with supervision experience Experience with clean and sterile techniques, injections, documentation in an electronic medical record Certified Medical Assistant, LPN, RN or greater in the Sciences from an accredited school/program Technological competence Excellent soft skills including but not limited to; communication, teamwork, problem-solving, critical thinking, adaptability, emotional intelligence, leadership, creativity, and a strong work ethic. Wage Range: $69,000/yr to $72,000/yr DOE
