POSITION SUMMARY:

The Clinical Training Coordinator, under the general direction of the Couples & Family Therapy (CFT) Systemwide Director, is responsible for the field training experience of all CFT students on their assigned campus, and/or online/hybrid modality, at the master’s and doctoral levels of training. The Coordinator will be a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, ideally an AAMFT Approved Supervisor, and have experience working in community mental health settings. They should be familiar with California state licensure regulations and requirements and have excellent management and interpersonal skills.
The Coordinator will be dedicated to providing high quality service to all constituencies of the University. They will exhibit the highest professional standards and ethical principles and will be committed to the tenets of Alliant International University’s Mission and Vision.
Starting Salary: $68,640 annualized, exempt position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Master’s degree in MFT, Psychology or a closely related field from an accredited college or university. Doctorate degree preferred.
Experience: Two (2) years as a Licensed MFT in California providing services to diverse populations in community-based settings and providing clinical supervision and training.
Certifications, Licenses, etc.: Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in the State of California. AAMFT Approved Supervisor or Supervisor Candidate.

SKILLS:

  • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office applications (especially, Excel & Access), CampusNexus student or similar database.
  • Excellent initiative, time management, and proven follow-through skills.
  • Good supervisory skills both of staff and students.
  • Good communication/interpersonal in face-to-face, phone, and written interactions.
  • Ability to deal effectively with problem and conflict situations. Clinical expertise.
  • Familiarity with COAMFTE accreditation requirements, especially those for field experience and supervision. Be familiar with AAMFT requirements for membership and approved supervisor status.
  • Familiarity with Board of Behavioral Sciences and Board of Psychology requirements for licensure and communicate directly with these licensing boards to clarify their rules and regulations.
  • Familiarity with state and national professional organizations (AAMFT, AAMFT-CA, CAMFT, APA, CAPIC and APPIC), their requirements, policies and procedures, and their codes of ethics.
  • Excellent customer-service skills, including sensitivity to cultural diversity and ability to communicate and interact effectively with people of all ages and diverse background.
  • Proven ability to work effectively as a team player; highly motivated, focused and results oriented.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and tact in all interpersonal contacts, and to maintain confidentiality at all times.

PRIMARY WORK LOCATION, HOURS & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Office Location: On San Diego Campus.
Work Hours: Standard office hours, with occasional flexibility for evenings and weekends.
Travel: None.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, approve, and maintain community practicum and doctoral internship training sites.
  • Assist sites to understand and conform to university standards and requirements. Provide mentorship to site supervisors as needed.
  • Assist students with all aspects of clinical training placement. This includes providing trainings on practicum and internship requirements and meeting with students individually to assess readiness for clinical practice at both the master’s and doctoral levels. Work with students and sites to handle and resolve problem situations.
  • Organize and facilitate annual practicum fairs on campus to allow students and site supervisors to interact and explore placement issues.
  • Coordinates and conducts mandatory orientation for incoming practicum students.
  • Provide campus availability for student contact, interaction with faculty and practicum instructors.
  • Review student, site, and practicum instructor documentation to ensure compliance with program mandates.
  • With the CFT Program Staff, monitor student compliance with training requirements and data collection.
  • Maintain accurate records of all required practicum documents.
  • Perform other related tasks, duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or directed.
