The post holder will join the Clinical Trials Assistant (CTA) Team, with one of the Directorate Research Teams. The CTA Team work cross-site, to support the delivery of first class quality care to research participants within Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (STH). The CTA Team manage a portfolio of research studies that are conducted within STH Clinical Directorates and within the NIHR Sheffield Clinical Research Facility (CRF).
The post holder will assist in supporting a portfolio of clinical trials, from study set up to archiving, in accordance with clinical trial protocols, laboratory manuals and all relevant regulatory standards.
The role will involve completing and submitting documents to the Clinical Research and Innovation Office (CRIO) obtain approvals; collecting, recording and maintaining research data records; entering activity data and extracting information from databases, providing clinical and administrative support to Research Nurses including performing clinical tests and investigations, processing and shipping samples and assisting with screening and recruitment processes. Post holders may also support, and be responsible for, relevant studies in their own right.

The CTA Team is part of the Clinical Research and Innovation Office (CRIO), and one of the Directorate Research Teams. It is involved in the delivery of clinical research across STH. We support the delivery of a wide range of studies, including studies from within the NIHR Sheffield Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) and NIHR Sheffield Clinical Research Facility (CRF).
T his vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of a maximum of twelve months due to maternity leave of the substantive post holder. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust’s legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts and statutory maternity provisions.
