Description Summary/Objective: The Clinician is responsible for the provision of comprehensive clinical services to clients and their families. This includes the provision of individual, family, group therapies, crisis intervention, advocacy, assessment, planning, discharge planning and interdisciplinary teamwork. Clinicians are responsible for formulating and implementing appropriate treatment strategies from clients and their families on their assigned caseload and for timely and satisfactory documentation of all treatment efforts. Clinical therapy involves responsibility for providing psychotherapeutic services to patients with behavioral healthcare needs to improve their level of functioning. The duties are performed as part of an interdisciplinary mental health team. The work is performed under the supervision of a senior licensed staff person who provides the incumbent with oversight and guidance in: assessment and evaluation, diagnosing utilizing DSM, collaborative and individualized treatment planning, completing psychosocial histories and progress notes, individual and group psychotherapy and consultation. The incumbent does related work as required. Essential Functions: Performs intakes, interviews new clients to obtain information and identify behavioral healthcare needs and refers to psychiatric medication management staff if appropriate. Participates in interdisciplinary staff meetings to discuss new cases and formulate treatment plans. Provides psychotherapy to individuals, couples and groups using evidence-based therapeutic methods, to assist patients in treatment mental health symptoms, increasing level of functioning in multiple domains, and achieving more satisfying lives. Makes referrals to a variety of health, social, vocational and educational agencies and facilities to arrange for supportive services for patients. Provides emotional support needed by clients involved in the process of growth or change. Refers patients to psychiatric medication management staff for medication review as needed. Prepares and maintains a variety of records and reports such as patient treatment plans, case progress notes, referrals, letters and treatment and discharge summaries. Contacts client families and other collaterals to obtain information to assess and monitor client progress and treatment as appropriate. Provide crisis intervention and services as necessary. Required to have a valid NYS driver’s license and ability to drive legally. Compliance with OMH MHOTRS regulations. Actively develops clinical skills through clinical supervision and CEU trainings. Demonstrates adaptability in response to change and effectively manages additional responsibilities as needed. Participates in clinical on-call rotation. Performs additional duties as assigned to support CHJC and ensure the effective operation of the Community Clinic. Special Requirements: Work Environment: Office environment will require occasional travel to conferences and/or meetings. May have contact with service recipients that are agitated and/or are in crisis. Some risk involved working with service recipients with mental illness. Works in an office setting with a controlled temperature environment. Occasional exposure to inclement weather conditions may occur depending upon assignments. Equipment: This position is required to maintain a working knowledge of related office equipment including personal computers and printers, audio-visual equipment, telephone systems, copiers, fax machines, etc. Physical Demands: Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, carry, push/pull, climb, bend, and stoop. Must be able to perform fine motor skills, read, and type. Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Full-time, flexible working hours to meet the needs of the program. Due to the nature of the position, the Clinician will need to be on-site. Regular work-from-home arrangements are not permitted. Travel: Travel may occasionally be required throughout service area (Jefferson, Lewis, Oswego, and St. Lawerence County). Required Education and Experience: Licensure by the New York State Department of Education as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW or LCSW-R) or Licensed Psychologist. (Permit authorized with provided supervision.) Requirements Skills/Abilities/Knowledge: Strong organizational abilities and office skills are essential for this position. This person must also have excellent people skills and be a team player. Must be able to work with privileged information in an unbiased and ethical manner. Ability to work with diverse populations. Must demonstrate effective and excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with others. Must be detail-oriented and possess excellent time-management skills. Requires self-direction, tact, diplomacy, and the ability to be clear, courteous, and professional. Able to react to change productively and handle other duties as assigned. Additional Eligibility Qualifications: Must maintain privacy of confidential information. Successful completion of routine pre-employment requirements as mandated by the New York State Department of Health, Office of Mental Health and Office of Children and Family Services along with ongoing clearances and exclusion checks. These requirements are to include employment health requirements, reference checks, criminal background checks/fingerprinting, State Central Registry clearance and your eligibility to work in the United States. A valid NYS driver’s license required. Corporate Compliance, HIPAA Privacy Security, and Workplace Harassment and Discrimination Training and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, First Aid and CPR will be required following date of hire.
