Planned Parenthood Northern California (PPNorCal) is seeking a Clinician for our San Francisco and Bay Area Health Centers. This role is full-time, 34 hours per week. SUMMARY The Advanced Practice Clinician (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Certified Nurse Midwife, and other licensed providers) will function as part of a healthcare team to provide care under the medical supervision of the Medical Director in accordance with PPFA and PPNorCal Medical Standards and Guidelines and all relevant federal, state, and local regulations. PPNorCal’s Telehealth clinicians function as part of a virtual team to provide care via telephonic or video-based platforms. Telehealth clinicians are supervised by the Sr. Telehealth Services Manager, with clinical oversight by the Telehealth Lead Clinician. PPNorCal’s CCD clinicians provide continuity of care through management of the follow-up process for both normal and abnormal results, management of medical records inside and outside the affiliate, and telephone triaging of patients experiencing symptoms. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- include the following: Other duties may be assigned. HEALTH CENTER Work in the health center providing comprehensive clinical sexual and reproductive health care services to all patients in accordance with evidence-based practice protocols. Utilize knowledge of and experience in patient care to: * Obtain a basic health history and comprehensive gynecological (GYN) history. * Perform a general physical exam, breast exam, GYN exam, and male genitourinary exam. * Recognize common breast and GYN deviations from normal and provide management or referral as appropriate. * Recognize common non-GYN deviations from normal and provide management or referral as appropriate. * Provide preventive care, including screening for breast and cervical cancers. * Obtain and interpret laboratory tests and results related to GYN visits. * Perform and interpret transvaginal and abdominal ultrasounds. * Screen for contraindications and special conditions to contraceptive methods. * Provide appropriate contraception to patients, including intrauterine contraceptives (IUCs) and implants. * Test and treat STI’s and other infectious conditions. * Provide PrEP and nPEP to prevent HIV infection. * Provide care across the reproductive health lifespan, including basic infertility services and menopause management. * Provide medication abortion, early pregnancy complication management, and other special services as appropriate by licensure. * Assess and manage complications from in-clinic abortion, medication abortion, and vasectomy. Depending on location may support in-clinic abortion clinic. * Provide care for patients of all gender identities, including gender-affirming care. * Construct an accurate assessment and treatment plan based on history, exam, and lab findings. * Provide patient with general reproductive health maintenance, education, and counseling. * Ensure complete and accurate medical documentation in EHR application and bill and code patient visits appropriately. * Function as a medical resource for health center staff. * Participate in health center efforts to achieve established goals for productivity, with the minimum goal of 3.0 encounters per hour. * Participate in research studies conducted in the health center. * Exercise a commitment diversity, equity, and inclusion in all interactions with patients and staff. * Participate in and model the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives of PPNorCal. TELEHEALTH: * Work regularly as a clinician in the health center providing face-to-face care. * Work with a virtual team to communicate and triage patients via telephone or video. * Provide virtual care to patients as outlined in the Telehealth scope of services. * Participate in follow-up of Quality Assurance activities. * Serve as a medical resource for PPNorCal staff. MEDICAL RESULTS: * Will perform work regularly as a Clinician in a health center providing face-to-face care. * Review and interpret all incoming PPNorCal test results (labs and imaging) and create follow-up plans as indicated. * Manage all existing PPNorCal medical follow-up for assigned patients. * Review all incoming medical record for new and existing patients. * Triage incoming medical calls and respond appropriately. * Manage medication refill requests. * Participate in follow-up of clinical Quality Assurance activities. * Act as referral liaison for patients needing specialist care outside of affiliate. * Serve as a medical resource for PPNorCal staff. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES OF CLINICIAN This job has no supervisory responsibilities. However, APCs are responsible for the medical oversight and instruction of the Reproductive Health Specialists and other medical support staff. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to understand and interpret statistics. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. COMPUTER SKILLS To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge and experience with EHR & EPM systems. Working knowledge of Microsoft office applications required. PROTECTED HEALTH INFORMATION (PHI) ACCESS REQUIREMENT As required for patient treatment and health care operations. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS * Current California NP, PA, CNM, or another APC license. * Current California BRN Furnishing Number (if NP or CNM). * National Provider Identifier (NPI) number. * Current CPR BLS certificate. * Must possess reliable transportation or automobile transportation with a valid California Driver's License and insurance as determined by the requirements of each position. A reliable automobile is required for Float Clinician positions. OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES, QUALIFICATIONS * Entry-level to three years of experience in sexual and reproductive health care. * Direct patient care experience, preferably in women’s health/reproductive health care. Experience in reproductive health, OB/GYN, primary care, or community health care preferred. Prenatal experience strongly desired if applying for a prenatal position. * Must be PPNorCal trained and privileged prior to taking on additional areas of care- i.e.; Telehealth, CCD, After-Hours, Pre-Natal, etc. * Common sense and a commitment to excellent customer service and quality health care. * Commitment to working with low-income and culturally diverse patients with an emphasis on health equity and empowerment. * Good judgment to serve patients promptly, competently, and in a friendly manner. Knowledge of additional languages desirable. Pay Range: The wage scale reflects the compensation that a new employee can expect to receive if offered employment. The wage scale for this position is $71.00 to $84.86 per hour, based on relevant professional years of experience.
