THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a Cloud and System Engineer to join our Identity and Access Management (IAM) team. In this role, you’ll be the go-to expert for our faculty, staff, and students, resolving complex IAM-related technical issues with ease. You’ll support and guide other team members, ensuring seamless support operations. This versatile role requires adaptability, allowing you to collaborate across different teams such as Cybersecurity, DevSecOps and Enterprise Applications.
You will play a pivotal role in managing UTS’s cloud and on-premises identity systems, while also mentoring junior team members and fostering a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge-sharing. With an emphasis on hands-on learning, problem-solving, and a growth mindset, this role is perfect for someone who is curious, proactive, and passionate about driving technological innovation.

Responsibilities

The Cloud and System Engineer will:

  • Contribute to the hands-on implementation, upgrade, and patching of IAM systems across both cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Configure and support cloud IAM platforms including Okta, SailPoint, and Entra ID, ensuring secure identity lifecycle management.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex IAM-related incidents involving SSO, MFA, and protocols such as SAML, OpenID Connect, and OAuth.
  • Create and maintain detailed technical design documents and architectural diagrams to support IAM enhancements and integrations.
  • Participate in project planning and sprint discussions, aligning IAM rollouts and enhancements with broader IT goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including security, infrastructure, and application teams—to ensure IAM systems integrate seamlessly with existing environments.
  • Design and maintain identity and access management solutions using platforms such as Active Directory (AD), AD Connect, Redhat Directory Services, LDAP 389, and Linux-based systems.
  • Apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and Ansible to automate IAM configurations and improve platform efficiency.
