Role Summary
Reporting into the Cloud Architecture Organisation, this role provides strategic cloud network architecture leadership across multiple public cloud platforms. The position demands exceptional technical depth across cloud service providers (including AWS, Azure, GCP, and OCI) combined with strategic thinking to shape and own our cloud networking patterns and standards.
You will be the technical authority for cloud networking architecture, responsible for developing and maintaining our cloud networking patterns library, driving technical excellence, and ensuring architectural consistency across our cloud platforms. This role requires deep understanding of enterprise-scale cloud networking challenges and the ability to create innovative solutions that balance security, scalability, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Architecture Leadership
Lead the definition of network security architecture patterns, incorporating zero-trust principles and cloud-native security controls
Pattern Development & Governance
Own the cloud networking patterns library, ensuring patterns are current, well-documented, and aligned with cloud provider best practices
Drive the adoption of Infrastructure as Code practices for network deployment and management
Technical Authority & Innovation
Serve as the technical authority for cloud networking across the organisation
Provide architectural oversight for critical networking initiatives and major architectural changes
Stakeholder Leadership & Influence
Build strong partnerships with Cloud Architecture, SRE, Security, and Application teams
Mentor and develop cloud networking expertise across the organisation
Required Experience & Skills
Technical Expertise
Minimum of 12 years’ experience in network engineering and architecture
Strong background in network security architecture and zero-trust networking principles
Strategic Capabilities
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement technical strategy
Experience leading major technical transformation initiatives
Cloud & Infrastructure Knowledge
Expert understanding of cloud networking principles and best practices
Understanding of financial services specific networking requirements
Leadership & Influence
Proven ability to influence and drive technical direction without direct authority
Assist the director of cloud networking and deputise in their absence.
Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
