Description

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Cloud Database Administrator to support an intel program focused on cloud development. This position will be fully remote. Qualifications for the Cloud Database Administrator include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, and 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator
  • OR
  • 9+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
  • U.S. Citizenship (required for Public Trust clearance eligibility)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
  • Proven experience managing and supporting Oracle and PostgreSQL databases
  • Hands-on experience with AWS database services: Aurora, RDS, Redshift
  • Familiarity with AWS infrastructure: EC2, VPC, S3, IAM, Lambda
  • Proficiency in automation and scripting using Python, Shell, or AWS Lambda
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, or similar
  • Strong knowledge of database failover, recovery, and disaster recovery planning
  • Deep understanding of database design principles and best practices
  • Excellent communication, troubleshooting, and analytical skill
Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain Oracle and PostgreSQL databases in both on-premises and AWS cloud environments.
  • Design, implement, and optimize AWS database services such as RDS, Aurora, and Redshift to ensure high availability, performance, and scalability.
  • Automate routine database tasks using scripting languages like Python, Shell, or AWS Lambda.
  • Monitor database performance using AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and other monitoring tools; proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Implement and test database backup, failover, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and cloud engineering teams to integrate database solutions into CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure.
  • Ensure database security by managing access controls, encryption, and compliance with federal security standards.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for database configurations, procedures, and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot complex database issues and provide timely resolutions to support application and business needs.
