Be part of the prestigious MITS (Managed Information Technology Services) contract, where innovation and modernization meet the critical demands of a Combatant Command tasked with enabling global logistics and mobility. This is a career-defining opportunity to provide strategic, technical, and hands-on cloud engineering expertise to TCJ6, USTRANSCOM's tech-forward Command, Control, Communications & Cyber Systems Directorate. You'll play a pivotal role in supporting the operations, optimization, security, and modernization of mission-critical infrastructure, applications, and systems. Responsibilities: Plan, design, and implement next-generation commercial cloud architectures with a focus on security, scalability, resiliency, and operational excellence. Lead the migration, re-platforming, and integration of applications into cloud environments, focusing on modernization, automation, and process improvement. Apply your expertise in tools such as AWS, Azure, Linux, scripting languages like PowerShell/bash, and ITSM tools to create efficiencies that enable mission success. Ensure adherence to DoD cloud computing policies (e.g., guidelines for IL5/IL6 Commercial Cloud Service Offerings). Take an active role in testing, troubleshooting, and optimizing complex cloud/virtualization systems while keeping pace with technological advancements. You'll also have the opportunity to: Conduct strategic analysis and provide actionable recommendations to maximize performance while minimizing costs. Assist with configuration management, hardening system security controls, and leveraging Active Directory forests, Group Policies, and STIGs to enforce compliance standards. Operate as a trusted technical advisor, consulting senior leadership while showcasing your expertise on scalable cloud solutions in high-stakes, mission-critical environments. This role offers flexibility with Monday-Friday daytime hours while also offering opportunities to support response efforts during emergencies or planned after-hours events. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree (BS/BA) and 4+ years of experience in cloud engineering, IT systems, or related fields. Active DoD Secret Clearance. Current certifications: AWS Cloud Engineer Certification and experience operating AWS environments. IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+, CECCNA-Security, CySA+ **, GICSP, GSEC, or SSCP). Computing Environment Certification for Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Oracle, etc.). Azure certifications preferred. Expertise in AWS GovCloud services and IL5/IL6 environments. Hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and proficiency in command-line administration. PowerShell/Bash experience for scripting and automation. Knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM) tool suites and familiarity with Active Directory forests, enclave domain systems, and security measures like STIGs. This project-oriented role also values individuals with excellent communication skills who thrive in collaborative, multifaceted environments focused on high-level mission success. Why Scott Air Force Base? Located near St. Louis, Scott AFB combines the opportunities of a tech-focused military base with the welcoming atmosphere of the Midwest. You'll enjoy: World-Class Collaboration: Scott AFB is known for its mission-critical role in U.S. military logistics, offering exposure to some of the most advanced IT and cybersecurity initiatives in the defense sector. Accessible Location: With proximity to St. Louis, enjoy the benefits of city living with an affordable cost of living and family-friendly amenities.
