POSITION SUMMARY

Modern Government Solutions (MGS) is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure & Systems Engineer to help design, deploy, and optimize scalable network infrastructure supporting advanced workloads, including AI and containerized applications. You’ll be part of a high-performing engineering team delivering secure, high-performance hybrid cloud environments, integrating traditional networking infrastructure with software-defined networking (SDN) technologies in OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) environments.
This role blends cloud systems engineering, automation, and network design to drive infrastructure innovation across classified environments.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must possess an active Department of Defense (DoD) TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in hybrid infrastructure environments including Linux, virtualization, and container platforms (OpenShift/Kubernetes).
  • Solid understanding of network architecture (LAN, WAN, VLANs, routing, firewalls).
  • Experience with SDN tools and technologies such as Open vSwitch (OVS), Open Virtual Network (OVN), SONiC, or Cumulus NOS.
  • Familiarity with OpenShift networking components (CNI plugins, MetalLB, Service Mesh).
  • Familiarity with observability tools such as OpenShift Network Observability Operator.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across system and network layers.
  • Strong communication skills to interface with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency in automation scripting using Python or Go, and configuration management with Ansible.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, or DevSecOps practices.
  • Knowledge of network security compliance and DoD infrastructure standards.
  • Exposure to high-performance computing (HPC) or AI/ML networking environments.
Applicants selected will be United States citizens and may be subject to a government security investigation for access to classified information

  • Integrate and manage traditional hardware (routers, switches, firewalls) with SDN and container-based networking platforms.
  • Support containerized workloads via OpenShift and Kubernetes, including deployment, service mesh, and traffic load balancing.
  • Troubleshoot network performance, routing, and system connectivity issues across Linux-based platforms.
  • Maintain infrastructure documentation, standards, and compliance with security protocols.
