Description
SAIC is looking for a Cloud Network Engineer who will design, implement, and document network architecture. The engineer will research, develop, and integrate new network technologies, maintaining up-to-date network documentation, including diagrams. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, architecture, engineering, security, and vendors is essential. The candidate will review changes and designs, participate in requirements gathering, manage configurations, and lead test planning with the DevSecOps, Architecture, System Integration Test, and Development teams. Job Responsibilities: Design, implement, and optimize network architectures within cloud platforms, emphasizing scalability, security, and performance Research, develop and evaluate, recommend and integrate new network technologies Develop, update and maintain network documentation of network configurations, topologies, and operational procedures Lead, participate and collaborate with cross functional teams from architecture, other engineering groups, security, infrastructure, and vendors Provide peer review on all changes and designs Work closely with the DevSecOps, Architecture, System Integration Test and Development Teams to ensure that virtual workstations, network appliances and tools are integrated together effectively Participate in requirements gathering, management, configuration, test planning and other software/network engineering activities as appropriate Participate in troubleshooting network issues, diagnose problems with network equipment and performs equipment repair or upgrades when appropriate Organize and direct network installation(s) site surveys current site network configuration and user requirements Responsible for system capacity and planning, as well as functional configuration audit, Security configuration audit Responsible for managing and coordinating networking activities with colocation (colo) facilities, including liaising with cloud exchange fabrics and enabling direct connectivity options Overseeing IP management and executing comprehensive network design and management strategies Contribute to next-generation networking proof-of-concept projects in close collaboration with partners to deliver tangible outcomes that guide new technology investments and implementation decisions to evolve the network technology stack Collaboration with stakeholders and engineers to improve security posture, accentuating Zero-Trust principles Required: B.S. in technology field computer science, electrical engineering, information systems management, related field of study, or demonstrate equivalent experience in a related field Ability to obtain and maintain a DHS Public Trust requiring U.S. Citizenship 5+ years overall applicable experience Experience managing complex hybrid cloud environments: SD-WAN, cloud firewall, on-prem firewall, network access control, wireless environments, load balancing, reverse proxies, and AWS/Azure/GCP/OCI cloud networking Experience with cloud-native infrastructure, including virtual networks, security groups, and identity management services Must have extensive knowledge of internet, computer, routers, switches, firewall, and cloud Demonstrated hands-on experience with IT Networking practices (OSI model, routing, switching), security concepts (e.g. RADIUS, 802.1X), and infrastructure components to include but not limited to Cisco, Juniper, and Palo Alto Operational knowledge of cloud environments; Network and routing protocols; Windows Server and Microsoft Entra ID; Software Defined Networking Ability to manage, coordinate and organize data, gather a comprehensive view and design new concepts Good leadership qualities to instruct and lead junior engineers, administrators, and technicians Experience in working within environments that employ Agile and Scrum methodologies for project management and are structured around a DevOps culture Experience with STIGS and remediation to include vendor best practices Preferred Certifications: GCP, Azure, OCI, or AWS Cloud certifications Security+ CISSP CCNA / CCNP CCSP
