About the Role As a Cloud Security Engineer, you will be a key member of our client’s team. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to identify, manage, and mitigate security risks across the client’s cloud environments. Reporting to the Director of Cloud Security, you will help define and implement technical controls, tools, and processes that strengthen our cloud security posture. Key Responsibilities Governance & Strategy - Define and enhance cloud-focused security policies, controls, and governance frameworks. - Partner with technical leaders to mature client’s cloud and application security capabilities. Technology & Implementation - Identify, implement, and operationalize cloud security technologies and processes. - Leverage data analytics to influence and improve cloud security posture. - Consult with project teams to ensure secure architecture for cloud and SaaS platforms. - Contribute to broader cloud security initiatives including platform security and DevSecOps. Documentation & Collaboration - Draft and maintain technical documentation including standards, policies, procedures, and architectures. - Build strong partnerships across teams and communicate complex security concepts in simple terms. Required Qualifications - 5+ years of experience in a technical IT role within an enterprise or matrixed organization. - 2+ years of hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP preferred). - Demonstrated expertise in two or more technology domains (compute, storage, network, data). - Experience in software development, automation, Infrastructure as Code, and CI/CD pipelines. - Strong understanding of information security practices, controls, and governance. - Relevant certifications preferred (e.g., CISSP, CCSP, CCSK, or cloud provider security certifications). - Excellent communication and documentation skills. - Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively. Work Arrangement This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of three days per week onsite in either our Charlotte, NC or Detroit, MI office. Please note that the onsite requirement is subject to change. Salary and Other Compensation The annual salary range for this position is between $114,000 to $134,000 depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
