Description Job Purpose This position provides direct instruction to adults with autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders within center and community-based settings using the principles of applied behavior analysis. The Club & Hub Behavior Technician will work with other staff to teach group activities, lead community-based activities, collect data, and prepare learning materials and curriculum as requested by the Club & Hub Program Supervisor. Duties and Responsibilities Preparation/Materials Ensures that adult participants’ arrival and departure times are documented correctly when they start, end, or change services Sets up materials and learning environments for adult participant(s) success Assists in creating, organizing, and maintaining group activities, clubs, and other necessary materials Teaching Ensures that each adult participant is actively engaged and making progress towards their individualized program goals and objectives Runs group activities and clubs independently or in collaboration with other staff members Provides supports as outlined in the individual’s Individualized Services Plan Uses evidence-based instructional techniques during program implementation Takes advantage of natural teaching opportunities Implements behavior support plans (BSP) a Implements additional instructional protocols accurately (e.g., meal preparation, toileting, etc.) Community-Based Instruction Safely transports adult participants to community settings as requested/required Ensures that programs are implemented accurately and efficiently while in public Takes advantage of natural teaching opportunities in public Interacts appropriately and respectfully with other community members Assists adult participants in managing valuables including money and personal belongings Leaves and arrives on time for community-based activities Communication Documents adult learner progress with daily progress notes Participates in team meetings, case reviews, and all staff meetings as requested Coordinates and collaborates with other members of each participant’s multi-disciplinary treatment team Communicates with Club & Hub Program Supervisor about programs requiring troubleshooting Reports supply needs and inventory status to the Club & Hub Program Supervisor in a timely manner (e.g., reinforcer supplies, program supplies, van maintenance/gasoline, etc.) Data Collection and Analysis Collects data accurately Maintains accurate graphs in digital format Updates all program information in data sheets or via electronic data collection in a timely manner (e.g., within 1 business day) Takes initiative to problem solve group or individual programming needs Communicates any remarkable trends in behavior that might need programming or intervention to Club & Hub Program Supervisor Professionalism Arrives on time for work Shows flexibility to change Has a positive attitude towards adult participants and staff Adheres to safety protocols Makes prudent use of General Leave time Assists with special projects and assignments as requested Takes on additional responsibilities when work is complete Assists in keeping common spaces clean and organized Accepts feedback and constructive criticism Adheres to the mission, vision, and values of VIA Emerging Responsibilities: Club & Hub Behavior Technicians may assume the following responsibilities as assigned by the Club & Hub Program Supervisor as part of their professional development: Analyze and summarize adult performance data Assist with assessments and adult program development Design and prepare future group activities, clubs, or community-based activities Position Type This is a full-time position. This position involves participation in community-based instruction and working with adult participants who have the potential to exhibit disruptive and/or aggressive behavior. Requirements High school diploma or equivalency required Bachelor’s degree preferred Experience in the application of applied behavior analysis (ABA) or experience working with individuals who have autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders is preferred Valid driver’s license required
