JOB DESCRIPTION

The City of Mission’s Parks, Recreation and Culture Department is looking for Recreation Instructors for our Club K.I.D.S. Program. This position will work with children ages 5-12. This position will ensure the safety and well-being of participants and will communicate and work cooperatively with participants, parents, supervisors, and community agencies. In this role you will plan, lead, and support developmentally-appropriate and engaging activities for children enrolled in the Club K.I.D.S. program. You will participate with children in an enthusiastic, respectful, and friendly manner

QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates for this role must have an understanding of child development including their physical, intellectual, creative, and emotional needs. They should have knowledge of the Care and Assisted Living Act. They must also have strong skills in communication, conflict resolution, problem solving, and leadership. The candidate will have proven sound judgment, ethical decision making, and the ability to stay calm under pressure and/or when handling conflicting priorities.
As the ideal candidate, you will possess a minimum of 20 hours of responsible adult training, and a standard first aid with CPR certificate. University education, BCRPA High Five Certification and NCCP are considered assets. All candidates should be comfortable with swimming and skating, in addition to general recreation activities for children. A vulnerable sector criminal record check will be required as a condition of employment. As we are a Fraser Health Licensed program, all candidates must be at least 19 years of age.
