Located in the heart of Dubai's historic trading hub, Novotel Dubai Gold District offers easy access to Gold Souk, Spice Souk, Port Rashid Cruise Terminal, and Dubai International Airport-an ideal base for exploring the city. Job Description Purpose of Role As the Cluster Engineering Manager, will lead the engineering and maintenance operations across multiple hotel properties in the assigned cluster. Ensure that all physical assets—mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire & life safety, and building automation— are maintained to the brand and corporate standards, while optimizing operational cost, energy usage, and guest experience. Key Responsibilities Oversee the maintenance, repair and operation of all systems in each hotel within the cluster: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lifts/elevators, building automation, fire safety systems. Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program across the cluster, aiming to minimize downtime and equipment failure. Monitor energy & utility usage across the properties and identify opportunities for sustainable practices and cost savings. Lead, train and mentor the engineering teams on each property (Engineers and technicians), driving standards of performance, professionalism, and guest-service orientation. Prepare, manage and monitor the cluster engineering budget (operating and capital expenditures) in collaboration with each property and the central team. Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, codes, and safety and environmental standards across properties (local, federal, brand). Coordinate major renovation, refurbishment, and CAPEX projects across the hotels: liaise with designers, contractors, and vendors; ensure timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met. Serve as an escalation point for major engineering issues (e.g., system failures, guest impacts) across the cluster; ensure minimal guest disruption. Work closely with other hotel departments (Front Office, Rooms, F&B, Housekeeping) to align engineering activities with guest experience and hotel operations. Maintain and review engineering documentation across properties: service contracts, inspection reports, maintenance logs, regulatory records. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering (or related field) preferred. Significant hotel engineering/facilities management experience (typically 5+ years), including at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role. Strong technical knowledge of building systems: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, BMS. Proven leadership skills: ability to manage teams across multiple sites, mentor staff, drive performance. Experience with budget management (OPEX & CAPEX), cost control and project oversight. Good communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate with various departments and external contractors/vendors. Knowledge of local building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards relevant to the region. Proficiency with maintenance tracking software, building automation systems, and MS Office. Ability to work flexible hours and respond to emergencies (guest impact scenarios). Strategic thinking with the ability to view engineering across a cluster of properties rather than just a single site.
