Description Commonwealth Kidney Doctors (CKD), a Nephrology Specialists company, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our nephrology team. This role is ideal for a CMA who enjoys patient-facing work and can efficiently room patients, collect accurate clinical information, and support providers in delivering high-quality kidney care. This position is focused on rooming patients, including preparing patients for provider visits and supporting clinic flow. We offer a comprehensive benefits package and competitive compensation. Primary Focus: Patient Rooming & Visit Preparation (Core Role) You will be a key part of the daily clinic flow by ensuring patients are prepared for provider visits and that documentation is accurate and complete. Core responsibilities include: Room patients efficiently and professionally Collect history for new patients and update key clinical elements (vaccines, allergies, pharmacy, social history) Obtain and document vital signs Update and reconcile medication lists Perform urine dip testing for new patients and as needed Obtain outside labs/records/history not already in the chart (as directed) Support clinic flow by ensuring charts are accurate, complete, and ready for the provider Additional Responsibilities (As Assigned) Assist with patient communications and routing messages appropriately Support clinical documentation workflows (assigning/organizing documents in the chart) Travel to CKD locations as needed (travel assignments directed by Management) Provide general clinical support to providers and teammates to ensure smooth daily operations Requirements Education & Licensure Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certificate required BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS preferred. Experience Minimum of 1–2 years of CMA experience in an outpatient clinic, internal medicine, nephrology, or similar setting. Familiarity with managing chronic illness, particularly kidney disease, hypertension, and diabetes, is preferred. Experience with care coordination, medication management, or patient education is a plus. Skills & Clinical Competencies Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems (Athena preferred). Ability to educate patients on disease management, treatment plans, and medication adherence. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to build rapport with patients and support them compassionately. Administrative & Teamwork Abilities Support providers with chart preparation, documentation, and patient follow-up. Work Conditions Comfortable working in a fast-paced outpatient clinic setting. Ability to stand for extended periods, move freely, and assist patients as needed. Will require travel between multiple clinic locations (as needed).
