Description
Overview We are hiring a CMM Quality Technician to serve as the gatekeeper of precision for our high-mix, low-volume machining operations. This is not a role for someone who just wants to load a part, push a button, and wait for a green light. We need a critical thinker who understands how to measure, not just how to operate a machine. You will work primarily with Zeiss CMMs and Keyence vision systems, but you must be equally skilled with manual inspection tools. In our shop, the CMM is a tool, not a crutch; we expect you to have the skill to manually validate results, troubleshoot discrepancies, and verify "tenths" tolerances (.0001”) with confidence. You will work directly with our quality engineer and our machinists. We are building a culture where Quality and Manufacturing work as a team to solve problems. If you are hungry to learn, possess strong mechanical aptitude, and want to grow your skills in a high-tech environment, we want to talk. Compensation $28 - $36 / hr Consistent overtime available Shifts Day Shift (4 x 10s), Monday - Thursday 6:00am - 4:30pm Consistent Overtime 10+ hours / week for those who want it Benefits Medical, dental, vision 401(k) with match PTO Responsibilities Precision Inspection & CMM Operation Set up and operate Zeiss CMMs using Calypso software and Keyence vision systems. Perform rigorous manual inspection to validate CMM data using micrometers, indicators, height gages, and surface plates. Inspect complex, high-precision parts with 100+ features and tight tolerances (down to .0001” / 13 microns). Verify part hygiene prior to inspection: Ensure parts are clean, deburred, and fixtures are free of debris to guarantee accurate data. Problem Solving & Process Investigate "out of spec" findings: Determine if the error lies in the part, the fixture, the probe, or the program. Interpret complex technical drawings and apply GD&T principles (True Position, Parallelism, Perpendicularity, Flatness, Concentricity). Seamlessly switch between Metric and Imperial systems, understanding the conversion factors intuitively. Collaborate with machinists on the floor to explain results, help troubleshoot process variations, and achieve first-article success. Documentation & Growth Document inspection results clearly for internal records and customer requirements (FAIs/Inspection Reports). Maintain calibration status of local measurement tools. Growth Opportunity: While not required immediately, there is a strong pathway to learn CMM programming for candidates who demonstrate aptitude. Qualifications Experience: 3+ years in precision quality control (or strong machining background with a desire to switch to Quality). We are open to "hungry" junior candidates with strong fundamentals. Tech Stack: Experience operating Zeiss CMMs (Calypso) is highly preferred. Experience with Keyence systems is a plus. Manual Skills: You must trust your hands as much as the machine. Proficiency with surface plate inspection and hand tools is non-negotiable. GD&T: Strong ability to read blueprints and understand geometric tolerances beyond just simple dimensions. Math: Ability to fluently convert between Metric and Imperial units. Mindset: High "EQ" and communication skills. You must be able to deliver bad news to a machinist constructively and work together to fix it. Physical: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods. Compensation $28 - $36 / hr Consistent overtime available Shifts Day Shift (4 x 10s), Monday - Thursday 6:00am - 4:30pm Consistent Overtime 10+ hours / week for those who want it Benefits Medical, dental, vision 401(k) with match PTO
