The Shift (a.k.a. the good one) Monday–Thursday: 12:00 PM – 9:00 PM Friday: 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM Full days, short Fridays. Your weekends start early — as they should. What You’ll Actually Do This isn’t babysitting gauges. You’ll be the CMM subject-matter expert on second shift. Program and operate CMMs to customer drawings, CAD models, and specs Interpret GD&T like it’s your native language Generate inspection reports and issue NCRs when parts miss the mark Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections Maintain CMM calibration, programs, and accessories Use tools like borescopes, micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, gauge pins Recommend fixturing improvements to Engineering (your voice matters here) Train others on proper CMM operation and inspection practices Keep quality records tight, traceable, and audit-ready In short: you protect the customer, the process, and the company’s reputation. What We’re Looking For High School Diploma or equivalent (non-negotiable) 3–5 years CMM operation or programming in manufacturing 2+ years inspecting machined parts Comfortable issuing NCRs and backing them up with data ASQ CQT or PC-DMIS certification? Great. Not required, but we’ll notice. Why This Role is for You Clear expectations Real technical ownership A schedule that respects your life A quality team that values accuracy over shortcuts Clean processes, real standards, and zero tolerance for “close enough” Requirements SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Quality team member who provides technical expertise for Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) operation, programming, completion of documentation, and inspection/testing of various materials, parts, and processes to ensure conformance to the Quality Management System and customer requirements. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Create timely CMM programs and reports to satisfy customer drawings, CAD models, and specifications Issue nonconformance records (NCRs) and provide feedback to the manufacturing team Recommend fixturing concepts to Engineering to improve CMM inspections Cross-train employees on proper CMM operation for part inspection and calibration SPECIFIC DUTIES ASSIGNED:QUALITY ASSURANCE – CMM Operation & Maintenance: Maintain CMM calibrations (annual & daily), hardware & accessories, and programs Interpret GD&T blueprint callouts, drawings, readings, and specifications for CMM programming and reporting QUALITY ASSURANCE – Inspection & Testing: Follow specific written and oral instruction for visual, dimensional, and process inspection Perform timely incoming, in-process, and final inspections; Perform Nondestructive Testing (NDT) as needed Perform detailed visual, dimensional, and process inspections to determine conformance Utilize borescopes, gauge pins, optical comparators, calipers, micrometers, and CMM to perform inspections Review functional test results for conformance and report NCRs (Nonconformance Reports) to management QUALITY ASSURANCE – Documentation: Review job routers (shop travelers) for completeness and compliance; issue certificates of conformance Input inspection data into manufacturing software system, databases, and forms Record all results on testing and inspection into manufacturing software Issue Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) as necessary based on inspection data and findings Monitor the status of and maintain all Nonconformance Records in the database Monitor and maintain calibration database; issue calibration stickers for all manufacturing gauges as needed Authenticate inspections and findings by providing a signature on all relevant documentation Issue certificates of conformance for completed routers GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Receive and understand daily job assignments, priorities, and work instruction Organize, clean, and maintain work area to promote neatness Assure all department work centers and related areas are safely maintained, clean, and organized Performs all work within the scope of abilities under all quality and safety policies and practices Establish and maintain effective, positive, and professional communication with all co-workers Willingly performs other duties as trained and able EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Verifiable High School Diploma or equivalent 3-5 years of applicable CMM Operation or Programming in a manufacturing/production environment 2 or more years in a quality inspection role in inspecting machined parts CERTIFICATES, LICENCES, & REGISTRATIONS: ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) a plus PC-DMIS Certification a plus Ushers Machine and Tool Co., Inc. /Aalberts surface technologies - machining solutions is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to a diverse and inclusive workforce.
