Atlas is seeking an experienced CMT Materials Testing Technician to join our team in Cleveland, OH. This individual will primarily be providing field testing and inspections of concrete, masonry, soils, aggregates, and asphalt for private and public projects including, but not limited to, buildings, roads, bridges and related infrastructure. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • 5 years minimum experience with concrete, masonry, soils, and asphalt testing and Inspections.
  • Physical strength, stamina and dexterity to lift and move 50 lbs, stoop, bend, and stand throughout the course of a day in varying weather conditions in varying terrain.
  • Motivated, career-oriented individual striving to learn and achieve within the construction industry.
  • Must be willing to travel near the reporting office and surrounding areas as required by assignments.
  • Works well independently.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade 1 (preferred)
  • Nuclear Gauge User Safety Certification (NEPA, FERC etc.)

Responsibilities
  • Performs construction-related field tests as directed by the Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Manager and Senior Engineer.
  • Daily commutable travels to various construction sites primarily throughout SW Pennsylvania, with the occasional overnight and/or weekend work when required. Out-of-state travel is typically voluntary.
  • Relays information to project manager and/or engineer, with limited in-field decision making.
  • Transports equipment, test specimens and/or documents to field personnel, laboratory, clients or other offices, and provides physical assistance in equipment set-up.
  • Enters daily field observation reports and summary reports electronically.
  • Performs field quality control tests of concrete and masonry construction.
  • Performs field density testing on soil, concrete, asphalt and other construction materials.
  • Assists other technicians or professional staff on tasks, and supports other departments as necessary.
  • Mentorship and training support of other technicians and interns.
  • Follows Atlas’ safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specs
  • Ability to follow Atlas’ QC plan and SOP’s
