Description Bethany Village is seeking caring and dependable Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to join our skilled nursing team. CNAs play an important role in the daily lives of our residents by assisting with personal care, activities of daily living, meals, mobility, and overall comfort and wellbeing. The ideal candidate is compassionate, team-oriented, and committed to providing respectful, quality care to seniors in a long-term care setting. Responsibilities include direct resident care, monitoring and reporting changes in condition, assisting with treatments, and helping create a safe and supportive environment for residents and families. Position Overview: Provide care or assistance in the activities of daily living as prescribed in the resident's plan of care. Provide direct resident care encompassing admission process, physical hygiene, and treatment intervention within limits of authority. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Bathes residents and otherwise assists with personal hygiene to maximize their comfort, including bed baths, tub baths and showers, oral hygiene, care of hair, fingernails, etc. Prepares residents for meals, feeds residents as required, and provides nourishments and fresh water when indicated. Assistance with toileting and cleaning resident if incompetent, including transferring on & off commodes or toilets. Monitors residents, recognizing and reporting adverse symptoms and reactions. Checks blood pressure, temperature, respiration, intake and output, weight, and records results. Changes bed linen of both occupied and unoccupied beds, and tidies residents’ rooms. Responds to call lights, determines residents’ needs and reports unusual changes in status. Assists in moving and lifting of residents both in and out of bed, and walks residents for exercise. Administers various treatments as directed: e.g. enemas, compresses, dressings: collects stools, urine and sputum specimens as ordered by physician. Basic Duties & Responsibilities: Assists in the orientation and training of new employees. Performs various housekeeping duties: e.g., cleaning shower, utility and treatment rooms. Makes beds properly with in the expected time frame. Maintains cordial relationship with residents and their families. Performs other duties as outlined in the organization/Department policy/procedure manual, or as assigned. Requirements Education Required: CNA Certified High school education or GED preferred. Ability to read, speak and write English is also required for this position. Experience Required: Previous long-term care experience helpful Prior experience working with the dementia resident preferred, and a genuine interest in the geriatric resident is required. Hazards: Exposure to the following may be present in this position: Blood-borne pathogens and infectious body fluids/waste. Needles. Combative residents. Disinfectants and cleaners. MSDS sheets are available for all chemicals used. Equipment Used: Oxygen equipment, C-tub, bed scales, hoyer lifts, and all other generally required nursing equipment. Computer, photocopier, fax machine, and general office equipment. Working Conditions: Indoor - Skilled Nursing Facility. Every-other weekend required, and holidays may be required as needed. Mandatory Overtime may be required as needed. May be required to work past regular shift, or off-shifts as necessary. Working conditions for this position may include the following: inside, odors, adequate lighting, working with/around others, working alone. Physical Demands: Some heavy lifting required at times: ~25 lbs, @ 10% of time. ~15 lbs, @ 20% of time.
Responsibilities
Provide direct personal care and assistance with activities of daily living for senior residents in a long-term care setting. Monitor resident health status, report changes in condition, and administer basic treatments as directed.
