The Nursing Assistant functions within his/her scope of practice under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse to assist in providing care and implementing delegated activities of the nursing plan. S/he demonstrates an understanding of basic nursing skills and skills unique to the assigned clinical unit(s). Following orientation, s/he assumes delegated responsibility which may include (but not be limited to) such tasks as: meeting the hygienic, nutritional, elimination, activity, comfort and safety needs of patients; obtains and reports vitals signs (TPR and BP); performs urine reductions, transports (transfers, discharges) patients; obtains supplies/equipment as necessary from designated departments. Individualizes patient care using age related concepts based on the unit population assigned for infants (1 month to Age 1) toddlers (1-2 years), preschoolers (3-5 years) school age (6-12 years), adolescents (ages 13-17) and adult patients including early adult (ages 18-35) middle adult (ages 36-65) and older adult (ages 66+) by applying age related concepts...including knowledge of growth and development, safety needs, collection of data, treatments and care typically required. Utilizes age related concepts when communicating with patients and families, maintaining a safe environment, and using medical equipment and supplies. Responsibilities
