Description
Under the direction of supervisory nursing staff, provides daily care for residents to whom assigned. Assists in development of nursing care plans by participating in care conferences. The individual may be a trainee for no more than a maximum of 120 days from their date of hire. During classroom training time, the trainee is directly supervised by the Program Coordinator, Program Primary Instructor, and possibly additional trainers when utilized. During supervised clinical training time on resident unites, the trainee is directly supervised by the Program Coordinator, Program Primary Instructor, and possibly additional Nurse Aide Trainee Clinical Supervisors when utilized. Following completion of formal training, nurse aide trainees may be supervised by Nurse Managers, Charge Nurses, and Team Leaders on all 3 shifts during work time as they await results of NYS Competency Exam. na Qualifications EDUCATION: Minimum: • Must be able to read and write English Preferred: • High school degree, GED, and/or Human Services degree (or coursework). LICENSE: PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS: WORK EXPERIENCE: Preferred: • Prior Nursing Assistant, Long Term Care experience, or PCA/HHA experience. SKILLS: Minimum: • Ability to read, write, and comprehend medical terminology. • Demonstrates ability to work under stress. • Able to relate to residents, staff, and visitors. • Must be currently enrolled in State approved Nurse Aide Training Program. • Knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering simple treatments and providing basic nursing care to residents. • Understanding of standard techniques used in providing personal services for residents and in caring for equipment and supplies. • Good understanding of basis of asepsis to avoid infection of residents and self or contamination of equipment and supplies.
Responsibilities
The CNA Trainee provides daily care for assigned residents under the supervision of nursing staff. They assist in developing nursing care plans and participate in care conferences.
