CNC ENGINEERING TRAINEE - JOIN THE TEAM AT HMT ENGINEERING

Opportunity:
We are seeking to train and support two CNC Engineering Trainees to join our growing team. This is a training position, not a formal apprenticeship. The right candidates will receive internal, hands-on instruction across a variety of CNC-controlled machines. Progress will be monitored throughout the year, and external training (e.g. college-based qualifications) may be considered after 12 months of successful employment.
Candidate Requirements

Please do not apply unless you meet the following educational criteria:

  • Minimum GCSE grade 6 (or equivalent) in Maths and English
  • A genuine interest in engineering and hands-on learning
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and enthusiasm to develop new skills

Training Overview:
As a CNC Trainee, you will work closely with experienced engineers, gaining practical skills and technical
knowledge to manufacture precision-engineered components to exact specifications within tight tolerances and production deadlines.

You will gain experience in:

  • Setting, operating, and programming CNC Milling and CNC Turning machines (including 5-axis and multi axis machines)

Hass and Mazatrol control systems
Speed and feed calculations for various raw materials
Safe operation procedures and tooling knowledge
CMM inspection and manual measurement tools and techniques
A fully competent CNC trainee will be able to:
Program CNC machine tools
Operate CNC milling and turning equipment
Set up fixtures and work-holding devices
Interpret and work from detailed engineering drawings Achieve high precision within tight manufacturing tolerances Confidently use manual measuring instruments

Working Hours:

  • 39 hours per week

o Monday to Thursday: 08:30-16:30 Friday: 08:00-15:30
