Description Essential Functions Estimate labor hours and material costs for manufacturing activities related to proposals and contracts. Apply knowledge of pricing methodologies and estimating tools to develop accurate and competitive cost projections. Collaborate with Manufacturing and Customer Program Managers to create detailed labor hour estimates. Work with vendors and the Purchasing Manager to develop consolidated, priced bills of material. Compute cost factors and prepare estimates for use in planning, organizing, and scheduling work. Support bid preparation, vendor/subcontractor selection, and cost-effectiveness analysis. Requirements Responsibilities Analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and related documents to determine machining and manufacturing requirements. Develop time standards for CNC and manual machining processes, setups, and run times. Identify tooling, fixtures, and materials required for production and estimate associated costs. Maintain estimating database and ensure accuracy of cost data for future proposals. Prepare written estimates and present findings to management for review and approval. Assist in make-or-buy decisions, ensuring optimal use of internal resources versus subcontracting. Continuously refine estimating methods based on feedback, production results, and industry benchmarks. Qualifications Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered. 3+ years of experience in CNC machining, cost estimating, or related manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, materials (aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, composites), and aerospace/defense manufacturing standards. Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems, estimating software, and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external suppliers. Competencies Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving ability. Ability to interpret blueprints, models, and technical specifications. Business acumen with focus on cost control and competitiveness. Strong interpersonal skills for cross-functional teamwork.
