Description
Overview We are hiring CNC CO2 Laser Cutter Technicians to join our production team. In this role, you will set up and operate state-of-the-art TRUMP, Mazak, and Mitsubishi CNC flat laser cutting machines to transform raw metal sheets into the precision components that form high-end architectural facades. This requires mechanical aptitude, a focus on safety, and a sharp eye for tight tolerances. You will be responsible for handling heavy materials, monitoring machine performance and assist gases, and verifying that every cut matches precise engineering blueprints. We are looking for hands-on workers who take pride in precision and want to manufacture products that define city skylines. Profiles encouraged to apply include: CNC machine operators, metal fabricators, machinists, heavy equipment operators, and technically-minded individuals who are comfortable working with automated machinery, reading blueprints, and handling raw steel and aluminum. Compensation $21 / hr Paid weekly Shift Monday to Friday 1st Shift: 5:00am - 4:30pm Benefits Health, vision, dental 401(k) + match PTO Responsibilities Set Up & Operate CNC Lasers – Upload digital cutting programs into the machine's CNC controller. Calibrate laser settings, adjust focal points, and select the correct parameters based on the specific thickness and type of metal (aluminum, steel, stainless) being cut. Execute Safe Material Handling – Safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, or suction lifters to maneuver heavy pallets of raw sheet metal onto the laser cutting bed without damaging the material. Perform Critical Quality Inspections – Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) using precision tools like calipers and tape measures. Verify that the initial cut pieces strictly match the dimensional tolerances of the engineering blueprints before running the full batch. Monitor Machine Health & Process – Actively monitor the cutting process to ensure clean edges free of burrs. Keep an eye on assist gas levels (oxygen, nitrogen), check for tool or lens wear, and perform routine preventative maintenance like cleaning the machine slats. Manage Handoff & Organization – Perform light deburring if necessary, properly label finished parts, and organize them efficiently for a seamless handoff to the Press Brake operators for the next phase of manufacturing. Maintain Workflow Efficiency – Work efficiently in a fast-paced industrial environment while adhering to strict safety protocols and keeping your manufacturing station organized. Required High School Diploma or GED Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, engineering blueprints, and digital cut files Experience using basic measuring tools (tape measures, digital calipers) Physical ability to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive tasks, and lift/move heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) safely Strong attention to detail to ensure precision cuts and spot edge defects Preferred Skills Previous experience operating CNC machinery or flat bed lasers (e.g., TRUMPF, MAZAK, MITSUBISHI Experience operating overhead cranes, jib cranes, and forklifts Familiarity with metal fabrication properties and cutting raw materials Basic understanding of CNC nesting software or CAD/CAM programs Health insurance 401(k) matching Paid time off Vision insurance Dental insurance Life insurance Employee assistance program Disability insurance
