POSITION SUMMARY

Operates computer numeric control (CNC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts which meet the required quality standards by performing the following duties.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma/GED and one year manufacturing experience; or, one year certificate from college or technical school and six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and training documents.
  • Ability to set and use measuring tools.
  • Ability to read and understand written and verbal directions.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings. (GD&T a plus)
Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operates computer numeric control (CNC) machines and machining centers to fabricate required parts
  • Qualified measuring tools on a daily basis
  • Feed and load raw materials into CNC machines
  • Inspects part according to policies and procedures
  • Troubleshoot machine and maintains machine operations
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required
  • Observes and listens to machine operation to detect malfunctions, such as worn or damaged cutting tools
  • Performs a variety of inspection operations to insure maintenance of quality standards and specifications
  • Cleans machine, tooling, and parts and performs machine maintenance as required
  • Stack good and raw materials properly within storage areas
  • Clean and deburr finished parts as needed
  • Required to perform quality inspection of 1st piece as verified by supervisor or quality technician
  • Monitors and records inventory used (tooling, supplies and raw materials) and notifies appropriate personnel
  • Complete training requirements for continual technical growth as required
  • Practices good housekeeping and maintains a practical and clean workspace.
