PURPOSE OF JOB Machinists / CNC Operators are highly skilled professionals, able to work with great concentration and precision to produce high quality parts and materials.    ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Prepare and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling, etc. • Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings, etc. • Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function. • Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines.   • Set machines to complete full cycles to fabricate parts. • Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result. • Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly. • Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality. • Understanding of how the machine works to maintain the machinery for which they are responsible and ensure it functions.  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering specifications, and shop orders to determine machine setup, production methods, and sequence of operation. • Count and record finished goods and handle the shipping instructions. Operators must tag and mark finished goods and drop material and place the drop material into the proper area. • Clean the work site area by using brooms, rags, or cleaning compounds and will use proper housekeeping practices. • Perform all other duties as assigned.   QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS • High School Diploma or GED • Must read a micrometer, caliper, and tape measure. • Mechanical aptitude and good basic mathematic skills such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing and fractions. • Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings. • Must have strong knowledge of callouts/tolerances. • Computer savvy with basic understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM • Good attitude and works well in team atmosphere. • Ability to learn new skills, technology, and equipment as industry changes. PREFERRED SKILLS • Certificate in machine shop technology or machine tool technology/machinist • 2+ years’ experience is preferred.   WORKING CONDITIONS Normally working on the plant floor and occasionally involved in manual labor. Will at times be exposed to heat, cold, inclement weather, noise, vibration, welding sparks, grease, oil, and diesel fuel.
