Our client, a leading company is rapidly expanding and has numerous openings for CNC Machinist. The individual will set up and operate precision ID and OD grinding machines and multi axis machining centers to manufacture precision quality products. The CNC Machinist is responsible for independent machine setup, first piece validation and exceptional quality. The CNC Machinist will offer technical knowledge and feedback in process planning for new parts by working with scheduling and engineering and should be able to navigate through the programming of the machine to adjust feeds and speeds to optimize part quality and efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College diploma or completion of certified apprenticeship program an asset
  • 2 years + of CNC Machining experience required
  • Previous work experience using hand tools and measuring tools
  • Inspection experience; CMM operation an asset
  • Previous work experience with: Turning, Milling, Grinding machining centres
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently maintain high productivity levels
  • Experience with reading and understanding GD&T symbols for parts made, and manufacturing any part designed in manufacturing
  • Ability to interpret and read complex CAD drawings and navigate through CAD models to obtain necessary information and detect errors
  • Capable of solving math and geometry problems presented at machines
  • Strong team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid understanding of proper Health and Safety workplace practices
  • Ability to lead and provide guidance to other team members
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft applications
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 20lbs independently
  • Must be able to work rotating shift schedules
Responsibilities
  • Read and work from complex part drawings and 3D CAD models
  • Set up and operate CNC Precision Universal (ID and OD) Grinding Machines and Multi Axis Machining Centres in accordance with approved, safe work procedures
  • Inspect and record part quality utilizing various precision metrology equipment
  • Complete work orders and associated documents utilizing Microsoft applications
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the operations through LEAN principles
  • Determine root cause analysis/troubleshoot and problem solve errors with quality
  • Create, troubleshoot and optimize CNC programs and processes
  • Create and implement new work processes/procedures for existing and new machines to drive productivity improvements
  • Provide leadership, support, mentoring and training to other team members. Provide instructions and delegate tasks as required.
