We are currently looking for a full-time CNC Machinist (Journeyman) to join our Edmonton-based Manufacturing team.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS AND CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Grade 12 diploma and/or Machinist Certificate; Certified journeyman certificate or equivalent and ongoing professional development.
  • 5+ years of experience in a production setting
  • Live tooling experience
  • Proficient with Gibbscam
  • Experience with measuring instruments
  • Familiar with DMH software & HAAS controls
  • Familiarity with Manual, NC, and CNC lathes (Haas)
  • Knowledge of industry seals.
  • Efficient with all types of measuring instruments.
  • Advanced mathematical skills.
Responsibilities

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate a strong and advanced understanding of Level 1, 2, 3, and 4 machining skills and concepts
  • Apply advanced knowledge of machining trade skills, concepts, and practices to complex operations
  • Program, set up, and operate custom drawings, standard profiles, and double-sided operations
  • Execute machining operations on all equipment, including bar feeder, robot, live tooling, and gang tooling
  • Set up and program radial and axial live tooling drives and tools
  • Demonstrate proficiency in programming for live tooling and gang tooling applications
  • Interpret engineered drawings and tolerances, including GD&T, with advanced proficiency
  • Display advanced CAD/CAM proficiencies (e.g., Gibbscam), including efficient geometry creation for complex and custom parts
  • Demonstrate advanced CNC programming skills, including word address formats, motion types (rapid, linear, circular), and compensation types (wear, geometry, workshift, tool nose radius)
  • Identify and apply G codes, M codes, T codes, F codes, and complete program structures (startup, shutdown, block delete, optional stops)
  • Perform trial machining and use advanced control features such as MDI, jogging, turret indexing, and safe insert changes
  • Select and prepare materials and tools for machining operations, including band saw and manual lathe work
  • Implement lean manufacturing techniques across the full scope of work
  • Perform accurate in-process and final inspections using industry-standard measurement tools
  • Use all machinist measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and dial indicators
  • Maintain inspection documentation and complete inspection checklists
  • Apply advanced mathematical and mechanical problem-solving skills (e.g., trigonometry, Pythagorean theorem)
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and maintain strong internal working relationships
  • Work independently and perform with minimal supervision
  • Handle complex issues and challenges with sound judgment and skill
  • Navigate E2 shop software with advanced proficiency, including data entry and order processing
  • Possess comprehensive working knowledge of machining, tooling, programming, and inspection practices
  • Provide training, coaching, and mentorship to junior machinists

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Housekeeping.
  • Participate in worksite hazard assessments, incident investigation, safety meetings, safety training and other aspects of the Hi-Tech Seals Inc. safety and quality control programs as required
