Job Description The role of the Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machinist is to produce machined parts by editing CNC programs, setting up, and operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines; maintaining the safety and quality standards upheld by company procedures and guidelines. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring our custom-made parts are ready for the production floor at the highest quality, while maintaining the safety and quality standards upheld by company procedures and guidelines. Responsibilities: Sets-up Lathe machines by downloading programs, setting up three and four jaw chucks, and collet chucks. Adjust CNC programs load them into machine as needed during machining process. Sets-up Mill machines by downloading programs, installing, and adjusting three -jaw chucks, fixtures, collet chucks, vices and stops. Sets zero / reference points and tool offsets, and tool radius compensation through calculating requirements and proving part programs. Measures and check dimensions and tolerances using measuring devices. Performs specific work order tasks in accordance with manufacturing plan and priority structure communicated by Manufacturing Manager – Machine Shop and Production Control. Loads material into CNC Machine by lifting into position by use of cranes. Conducts quality inspection on materials for defects before and after machining. Verifies CNC Machine setup through first-piece inspection and adhering to company standards. Maintains specifications by observing tool-life, part measurements, and troubleshooting CNC Machine malfunctions. Qualifications High School Diploma, GED, Technical School certificate, or related work experience. Six years’ experience in setting up CNC Machines. Six years’ experience of editing CNC Programs and utilizing G / M codes. Must have math knowledge (trigonometry). Manual Machining experience is a plus. Quality Inspection experience is a plus. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, bills of materials, and part specifications. Use of Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) a plus. Must be able to lift up to 60lbs. Ability to work well with others across multiple departments. Willingness to learn and grow. Able to take direction and follow through on tasks as outlined in documentation or verbally.
