About Us Vertex Engineering Solutions (part of the Autocraft Solutions Group of companies) is located in Hockley in the heart of Birmingham. We are a provider of jigs and fixtures, low volume specialist components, prototype components, mould and die manufacture and special purpose machinery solutions. We provide a complete project management solution, from design through to manufacture, assembly, testing and inspection. Vertex focuses on high quality and high accuracy markets such as aerospace, marine, niche automotive, medical and nuclear. The Role We are currently seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our small and highly skilled team. The successful applicant must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience producing one offs from engineering drawings, be able to work to tight tolerances and inspect parts using the correct measuring equipment. They should also be experienced in programming, setting and operating 3 & 5 axis machining centres, and must have a strong working knowledge of Mazatrol and/or Heidenhain. The ideal individual will be able to use their initiative and make fixtures or jigs to assist in the production of their part and have a sound knowledge of tooling along with feeds and speeds. They must be self-motivated and have ability to project manage the part from cradle to grave, and to meet specific and sometimes tight deadlines. As a contract machine shop, the work we do on a daily basis is varied and diverse, including fixture's, prototypes and bespoke work and a small amount of production work. The successful applicant will recieve an excellent starting salary with additional overtime payable at time + 1/2. Duties Overview To Program, Set and Operate CNC machines. Ensuring lead times and delivery dates are met. To ensure quality requirements and checks, using appropriate measuring equipment are carried out as required. To ensure all required paperwork/labels are correctly completed and filed as necessary. To ensure manufacturing shop floor data collection system is updated when required. To carry out Preventive Maintenance on machines. To work as part of team. To ensure all work is carried out in accordance with the company’s quality requirements. Always clean working area and any other duties as required. Role Requirements 5+ years experience with similar work (or equivalent experience) Experienced with programming, setting and operating 3 & 5 axis machining centres Knowledge of Mazatrol and/or Heidenhain Sound knowledge of Tooling Able to use conventional machines – Centre Lathe – Turret Mill – Surface Grinder. (Desirable) Able to use CAD (Desirable) Quality Systems Experience (Desirable) Person Specification Must be Self-motivated Ability to manage own workload to meet specific deadlines Excellent communication skills, both oral and written Excellent Team working skills but the ability to work alone Safety aware Hours 8.00 -16.30 Monday to Thursday 8.00-14.00 Friday Salary £18.00 - £22.00 per Hour - Depending on experience.
