JOB DESCRIPTION: CNC WOOD MACHINIST

POSITION OVERVIEW

Bondi Kitchens and Joinery is a high-end bespoke joinery company specialising in luxury kitchens, wardrobes, and custom timber solutions. We are seeking a CNC Wood Machinist to join our team and contribute to the delivery of precision-crafted joinery. This role requires technical expertise in CNC operations, a strong understanding of woodworking processes, and a commitment to quality craftsmanship.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience as a CNC machinist within the woodworking/joinery industry.
  • Strong knowledge of woodworking materials (solid timber, veneers, MDF, laminate, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings and technical documentation.
  • Experience with Cabinet Vision or similar CAD/CAM software (desirable).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to safe work practices.

Responsibilities
  • CNC Operation & Programming
  • Set up, operate, and maintain CNC woodworking machinery (routers, drills, and panel saws).
  • Load and run CNC programs generated from Cabinet Vision or other CAD/CAM software.
  • Optimise machine output by adjusting tool paths, speeds, and feeds for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Production & Quality Control
  • Interpret technical drawings, cutting lists, and specifications.
  • Manufacture components to exact tolerances with a focus on finish and detail.
  • Inspect completed parts to ensure compliance with design and quality standards.
  • Maintain high levels of safety and cleanliness in the workshop.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on CNC equipment.
  • Troubleshoot machine and program errors to minimise downtime.
  • Report and document any issues requiring further repair or support.
  • Collaboration
  • Work closely with the drafting, production, and assembly teams.
  • Provide feedback on drawings, programs, and machining processes to improve efficiency.
  • Assist in training apprentices or junior staff as needed.
