We believe value is driven by real teams where everyone has a role to play. UGL is seeking skilled CNC Machinists / Fitter CNC Operators to join our Bassendean heavy maintenance team. These are permanent full-time opportunities under the Bassendean Enterprise Agreement. About the Role You will work as a CNC Operator/Trade Assistant on a locomotive wheelset overhaul line, which includes: Wheel & axle machining Mechanical fitting and assembly Bearing installation Component measurement Key responsibilities: Machine wheels, axles, and related locomotive components Perform mechanical fitting activities Inspect and interpret technical drawings and specifications Ensure compliance with manufacturing standards Maintain a strong commitment to safety About You Experienced in CNC operating and programming Ability to set up and operate CNC lathe machines for precision components Kinwa CNC lathe experience preferred (not essential) Skilled in component setup and machining High attention to detail with sound knowledge of measuring instruments Relevant trade qualification or equivalent experience Strong communication skills (oral and written) Rail industry experience desirable (training provided for suitable candidates) What We Offer Permanent full-time roles with competitive pay Shift options Alternating Days & Afternoons (Monday–Friday) Permanent Afternoon Shift What makes you right for UGL A genuine commitment to safety A high-performance culture where you can thrive An innovative mindset that challenges the norm A belief that success is driven by real teams where everyone has a role to play About UGL!
