About the Role Vulcan is looking for a reliable and hands-on CNC Plasma Machine Operator to join our Plate Processing site in Christchurch on a permanent night shift -Monday to Thursday, 2:00pm to 12:30am (40 hours per week). Key responsibilities include: Operate Kinetic K2000 CNC plasma cutting machines Use overhead gantry cranes and lifting equipment safely Load and unload steel plates and finished parts Monitor cut quality and complete quality checks Label, sort, and process cut parts Assist with routine machine maintenance Help keep machines running efficiently with minimal downtime Work safely both independently and as part of the night shift team CNC plasma, laser, or machine operating experience Experience handling steel, plate, or heavy materials Overhead crane or forklift experience preferred Full Class 1 licence required; F endorsement an advantage Good understanding of quality checks and safe machine operation Able to work unsupervised on a permanent night shift Physically fit, dependable, and safety-focused Permanent role with guaranteed hours and weekly wages Training provided and opportunities to grow Supportive team and great workplace culture Health and wellness programme Trusted, established business with steady work Flat structure and approachable leaders Enhanced parental leave If you have most of the skills and experience we’re looking for, we encourage you to apply!
