On our team, a successful CNC Programmer develops & implements programs on-site that control our Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine tools to manufacture precision parts according to customer specification. This involves creating G & M code instructions for the machine tools, selecting appropriate tooling & fixturing, & optimizing the machining processes; i.e. speeds, feeds, step-overs, etc. They work with everything from customer sketches to detailed engineering drawings, using either CAD/CAM software &/or manually created G & M code programs as well as other available data to ensure all parts are produced accurately & efficiently.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Strong understanding of CNC programming, G code, CAD/CAM software, & machining principles.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Proficiency in shop trigonometry, algebra, & other mathematical concepts relevant to machine tool programming.
PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS:
Ability to troubleshoot process issues, optimize processes, as well as adapting to ever changing customer requirements.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Ability to effectively communicate with team members & other stakeholders regardless of race, religion, orientation of any nature as well as widely varied skill sets to ensure optimal efficiency & safety throughout the shop, as well as professionally communicating with customers occasionally as needed. The successful candidate will also occasionally interface with other sister shops in support of division wide needs therefore effective “remote” communication skills are a strong plus.
