Description
Program and assist with set-ups as required of CNC machines using long hand G-Code, Mazatrol, Mastercam and other software. Provide programming support on production jobs. Assist in the installation and implementation of new CNC equipment by creating programs and work holding fixtures. Identify and order new tooling needs for the creation or improvement of programs as needed. Design new jigs, tools, fixtures, and provide technical direction to production personnel. Redesign existing tooling, update fixture drawings, and revise records, as required by changes in manufacturing processes. Supervise the validation of new program rollout and communicate the process effectively with process engineers, quality, and production personnel. Implement projects and best practices to maximize CNC work center efficiency using Lean principles. Collaborate daily with manufacturing engineering and production supervisors concerning operational challenges. Investigate quality problems related to machines and provide technical directions to implement corrective actions and error proofing for future production. Train CNC machine operators in new machining technologies as needed. Review Engineering Change Notices and make timely changes to programming, tooling, fixturing, etc. to implement changes to production parts. Be proactive in identifying and administering projects to obtain the best results for the company and maximize resource use. Understand and follow a high standard of professional ethics, to ensure the integrity of the department and the work performed. Associate or Technical Degree or Certificate with focus on CNC lathes or related discipline from an accredited institution OR in lieu of certification or degree, a minimum of two (2) years of experience writing programs for CNC machining centers in a manufacturing environment. Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field 1 year of experience in one of the following: SolidWorks, MasterCam, or AutoCAD. 3 years of experience writing programs for CNC lathes and machining centers in a manufacturing environment.
