If you’ve spent years mastering setups, tooling, tolerances, and machine efficiency—and want to join a high-performance team where your skill matters—this is your opportunity. ---------------------------------------- BE THE DIFFERENCE ON THE PRODUCTION FLOOR As a CNC Setup Machinist, you’ll be responsible for setting up and operating a wide variety of advanced 3-, 4-, and 5-axis milling centers and manufacturing cells in a fast-paced environment. You’ll work closely with operators, programmers, leads, and production management to ensure setups are accurate, machines run efficiently, and quality standards are consistently met. ---------------------------------------- WHAT THIS JOB ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE * You set up a Hermle or Mikron for a critical production run and ensure first article success * You troubleshoot tooling or program issues to keep machines producing quality parts * You verify dimensions, offsets, and tolerances before production begins * You train operators on the setup and hand off a stable process * You make minor edits at the machine to improve efficiency and performance * You help the team hit delivery schedules without sacrificing quality ---------------------------------------- WHAT YOU’LL DO HERE * Set up and operate CNC machines including Hermle, Mikron, HAAS, Doosan, and Grob * Perform setups on advanced 3-, 4-, and 5-axis milling centers * Utilize Fanuc controls and make minor program edits at the machine * Use probes and tool setters to accurately measure tooling * Interpret blueprints, specifications, setup sheets, and production documents * Verify parts meet tolerance and quality requirements * Document setups and communicate process details to team members * Train operators on proper setup procedures and production expectations * Maintain accurate job records in Epicor ERP * Coordinate priorities to meet production schedules * Troubleshoot tooling, machine, and setup issues quickly * Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment * Support continuous improvement and efficiency efforts ---------------------------------------- YOU MUST HAVE * 5+ years of CNC setup machinist experience * Strong experience setting up multi-axis CNC milling machines * Ability to read blueprints and understand tolerances * Experience with probes, tool setters, offsets, and tooling measurement * Ability to make minor machine-side program edits * Strong understanding of G & M codes * Proven ability to troubleshoot setups and machining issues ---------------------------------------- WHAT YOU’LL BRING * Strong attention to detail * Excellent math and measurement skills * Sense of urgency and pride in quality work * Reliable attendance and punctuality * Self-motivated attitude with minimal supervision * Ability to communicate effectively across teams * Desire to contribute to a high-performance manufacturing culture ---------------------------------------- WHY YOU’LL LOVE WORKING WITH US At 5th Axis, your experience matters.
