JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled and motivated CNC Turning Programmer / Production Engineer to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong experience in CNC turning to take ownership of programming and production engineering in a technically diverse and autonomous role.

REQUIREMENTS

• HND/HNC in Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline.
• Apprenticeship trained or fully trained CNC programmer with a strong background in turning.
• Proven experience in offline and online programming for CNC lathes.
• Strong understanding of machining processes for complex turned parts.
• Proficient in Fanuc and Mazatrol controls.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and 3D models.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Experience with tooling selection and working with tooling suppliers.
• Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Kaizen, 5S).

• Program and optimize CNC turning machines (Mazak, Doosan, Victor, HAAS) using Fanuc and Mazatrol controls.
• Manage and maintain the DNC system and program control for the turning department.
• Continuously improve existing turning processes by reviewing methods, speeds, feeds, and tooling.
• Enhance production efficiency and reduce waste through process improvements.
• Attend APQP meetings as the turning production engineering representative.
• Assess and order tooling for new turning products in line with production schedules.
• Control tooling spend and ensure alignment with departmental budgets.
• Generate and prove out CNC turning programs for new components.
• Create setup sheets and documentation to support shop floor operations.
• Record and analyse cycle times, collaborating with engineering teams.
• Support and train production staff in CNC turning best practices.
• Ability to independently interpret and work to engineering drawings and 3D models.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
• Experience in programming Mazak Integrex multi axis turning centres with live tooling would be advantageous.
• Programme using Mazatrol, Fanuc, Featurecam (or and CAM package).
• Experience in working with tooling suppliers to implement new tooling/methods.
• Experience in continuous improvement methodologies i.e. Kaizen, 5S etc.
