This is a full-time position working 40 hours a week, Monday-Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. Position Description: The Financial Well-being Specialist/Coach is responsible for providing expert guidance, support, and education to individuals or groups on managing personal finances, improving financial literacy, and achieving long-term financial goals. This role focuses on empowering clients to take control of their financial health through coaching sessions, workshops, resources, and ongoing support. This role also works to develop and maintain relationships with community organizations to gain knowledge and understanding of their financial educational needs, prepare and deliver programs to support those needs. The position plays a key role in developing strategic growth initiatives of the financial wellbeing and education program within our communities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Financial Coaching: Provide one-on-one or group coaching sessions to individuals seeking advice on budgeting, saving, investing, debt management and financial planning. Provide guidance through financial decisions and help them understand the implications of their choices. Education & Workshops: Support the delivery of workshops, webinars, and presentations on financial literacy topics such as budgeting, how credit works, establishing/maintaining credit, debt reduction, financial goal setting, developing savings plans. Assess Financial Health: Work with clients to assess their current financial situation, identify goals, and create personalized financial plans tailored to their needs. Evaluate clients’ financial situations by reviewing their financial documents, i.e. tax returns, accounts/statements and credit reports. Provide Resources: Recommend tools, resources, and strategies to help clients improve their financial behaviors, including budgeting software or spreadsheets, savings strategies and debt repayment techniques. Goal Setting & Action Plans: Understand clients’ financial goals and aspirations. Assist clients in setting achievable goals and create tailored action plans and strategies to improve their financial well-being. Ongoing Support: Offer continuous support through follow-up sessions, ensuring clients stay on track with their financial goals and make necessary adjustments to their plans. Monitor clients’ progress towards their financial goals and assist them in overcoming financial challenges and roadblocks. Confidentiality & Ethics: Maintain a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards when handling clients’ personal financial information. Relevant certifications (e.g., AFC®, CFP®, or HUD Housing Counselor) are a plus. Required Knowledge: Strong understanding of personal finance topics including budgeting, credit, savings, debt management, and banking. Familiarity with financial challenges faced by underserved and immigrant communities. Knowledge of financial assistance programs, public benefits, and community resources. Experience Required: Minimum of 2 years of experience in financial coaching, counseling, or a related client-facing role. Demonstrated experience working with bilingual or multicultural populations. Experience delivering educational content in group and individual settings. HARD/TECHNICAL SKills/Abilities: Personal Finance Knowledge: Budgeting, debt management, credit building, savings strategies and retirement basics. Financial Coaching Techniques: Goal setting, motivational interviewing, behavior change strategies. Banking Product Knowledge: Deposit/savings products, credit products, mortgages. Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal, presentation skills. Technology Proficiency: CRM, MS Office Suite, other webinar platforms. Problem Solving: Finding creative solutions for financial challenges. Empathy & Active Listening: Building trust with individuals in sensitive financial situations.
