YOUR OPPORTUNITY

Stantec provides an exceptional opportunity to learn through practical experience, expert supervision and on-the-job training. Based out of our Burnaby, BC location, we are looking for Civil or Geological Engineering students or recent graduates in the field of Geotechnical Engineering for an 8-month period from May to December 2025.

YOUR CAPABILITIES AND CREDENTIALS

• Must have valid driver’s license and vehicle available to complete field reviews.
• Applicants should be energetic team players with appropriate academic qualifications.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Experience is preferred however undergraduates with at least one year in a Civil Engineering Degree/Diploma program are encouraged to apply.
• Applicants must be registered in an accredited, post-secondary institute
  Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Some time will be spent in a typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.

Students will be introduced to a wide variety of geotechnical consulting activities, including:

• Field Work: geotechnical and/or materials testing fieldwork including but not limited to; compaction monitoring, vibration monitoring and construction quality control / quality assurance.
• Laboratory Testing: conduct geotechnical laboratory testing and soil classification to characterize soil samples collected from geotechnical site explorations.
• Project Coordination: in conjunction with Stantec field staff, office staff, the client and other parties such as regulators and suppliers.
• Data Management: collection compilation and database applications of field and laboratory data analysis: desktop, computer and project team analysis of information to identify and define solutions.
• Reporting: preparation of reports detailing the work carried out, results, conclusions and recommendations.
• Obtain practical experience in applying technical procedures and practices
• Learn about prescribed testing and data analysis methods.
• Experience using various software programs and applications.
• Develop and enhance interpersonal skills needed to succeed in a professional career.
• Gain experience dealing with day-to-day responsibilities in a challenging work environment.
