Contract up to 4 months starting in May 2026 Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster, and easier. Our Real Estate Management department withinIntegrated Delivery Division (IDD) is looking for a Co-op Student, Real Estate Asset Management to assist in the development and implementation of asset management and data management processes and strategies including data collection systems, data visualizations and process mapping for Real Estate and Development departments processes. You will report to Director, Real Estate Asset Management. What will I be doing? Helps with consolidating and aggregating real estate asset information, developing asset management protocols (asset registry defining asset classes, asset information standard). Helps with development of data management strategies and data collection systems including the design and development of relational databases for real estate information management and retrieval that optimize statistical efficiency, data quality and supports evidence-based decision making. Imports, cleans, transforms, validates, and models data to improve data quality and ensure data is accurate and relevant and fosters understanding of operational, business and system issues/trends while advising on data issues including quality, availability and usability. Identifies, analyses, and interprets trends or patterns in complex data sets for data gathering and analysis activities using internal and external benchmarking, comparable industry trends, and various financial and economic indicators (operating/financial statements, vendors data, service desk data, building condition assessments, capital projects, and other applicable metrics). Helps with real estate asset management reporting through the preparation and consolidation of integrated reporting and produce ongoing and ad hoc reports and dashboards that identify issues, provide insight into results and outline recommendations for process improvements to resolve operational, business and system issues. Conducting interviews and meetings with all partners to understand business processes and requirements. Helps with documenting and mapping existing processes, including process flows, inputs, outputs, and resources. Helps with development of new process documents, playbook, and procedures such as asset information standard (data dictionaries), data governance, procurement process support, document centralisation, file naming convention, etc. and maintains and updates all existing process documents to reflect improvements in procedures. Evaluates existing business operations, workflows, and functions to optimize processes and determine how well they achieve strategic goals. Recommends improvements through analysis involving technology and business process automation to streamline processes, add efficiencies, save time, and cut costs. Presents data, reports and information and communicates changes and process improvements to stakeholders. Manages progress tracking duties related to REAM initiatives, financial targets and other essential measures. Consults with Metrolinx management to identify project priorities based on our organization’s business goals. Team player demonstrating the ability to work within cross-functional teams in a support role. Other duties as assigned. What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need? Must be attending school full-time and returning to an academic institution. Must be at least 15 years of age before starting employment. Enrolled in a degree program in Applied Science/Engineering or Engineering Technology, Real Estate, Architecture, Computer Science or Information Management, Business/Financial Management or Business Administration, or a related discipline Project management skills to effectively manage work and resources. Ability to analyze information/data and interpret complex datasets including experience with software/computer applications including Power BI, Tableau, MS Office Excel (Pivot tables, Power Pivot, formulas such vlookups, xlookups, VBA), SQL queries. Demonstrated ability to perform both quantitative and qualitative research. Competence in software such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, Access, Visio, PowerPoint, SharePoint). Technical skills, including knowledge of software applications such as Oracle Primavera Unifier, Oracle e-Business Suite including iProcurement/procure-to-pay, HxGN EAM, EDRMS, OpenText, GIS, and/or other enterprise asset management (EAM) applications, etc. Experience with process modeling and process mapping tools. Highly organized and flexible with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines, often with frequent interruptions and changing circumstances, in a high volume and fast paced environment.
